I just finished my new pc with all of these nice pci-e slots in it. It got me thinking, what if I was to get a cheap gpu, say a nvidia gt620, and have the boinc client just use it and not the other stuff. I want to retire my old celeron d I have crunching right now. The idea is it sits in the background crunching away without effecting my pcs main resources or performance for me. Is there anyway this can be done? The other card is an old amd hd6770, the processor is 4770k. Also I don't know if it maters but I will be upgrading the video card soon but still want the same config.

For me the question is unclear:
You want to have 2 GPUs in a singe system and only do SETI work on one of them?
You want to have 2 GPUs in a singe system and only use one of the GPUs for BOINC (Any project: MilkyWay@home + SETI@home + ... only on one of the GPUs)?

You want to have 1 GPU in the system and only use the GPU (and not CPU) to do SETI work?
You want to have 1 GPU in the system and only use the GPU (and not CPU) for BOINC (Any project: MilkyWay@home + SETI@home + ... only on the GPU and not CPU)?
...

All of the above (and more) is possible but accomplished by different settings.
So state what you really mean?
