Actually can't find the install CD, never used it since I just used the latest driver from Nvidia.

Did try finding the 26* drivers from MSI, seems I didn't look hard enough. Well downloading them from the link posted here, thanks all :)

Well no luck, the drivers is for GTX 560 Ti only :(

Will try MonChrMe's drivers...

Edit: Nope, not working, think Ti also.

I'm almost sure 266.58 or 266.66 driver will work with GTX 560 but for install will need a NV_Disp.inf hack/edit
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-266.58-whql-driver.html
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-266.66-whql-driver.html

NV_Disp.inf is probably in similar directory:
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\266.58\Vista 64-bit\International\Display.Driver\
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\266.58\Vista 64-bit\English\Display.Driver\

Do you want to do the hack?

Yes please, I've tried finding some modded drivers without luck, so if you have it :)

First try this (MSI 266.44 driver for GTX 560):
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=72009&postid=1381672#1381672

(I don't "have it" (modded 266.58 or 266.66 drivers) but I think we can add a few lines to the .inf file to make these drivers install on GTX 560)

Have it downloaded, but which lines do I add?

I tried adding this line from v275.33 to some 26* driver (forgot version) the other day, but that didn't work:

NVIDIA_DEV.1201.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560"

Check it out, MSI.com is now on the Google dangerous site list. Don't know about those people... Improper Overclocking, Mislabeling files, Dangerous site...

You could just wait until tomorrow and call them about the above. There is another package at another site that looks like it would have the same problem. It lists every card Except the straight 560. You could try downloading the new package and changing the 560 Ti to just 560, it might work. Do so at your own risk. Go to 266.77_win7_winvista_64bit_WHQL-[Guru3D.com]\Guru3D.com\Setup\Display.Driver and look at the bottom of the NV_DISP.INF file. The last entry is 560 Ti.

Forceware 266.77 Win Vista 7 WHQL 64-bit

I'd just wait until tomorrow and call MSI. 'Dangerous Site' what a hoot.

1) What is the error message when you try to install driver from nvidia_266.44_v764_vga.zip ?

2) Does the NV_Disp.inf file found under (maybe) C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\266.44 contain strings about GTX 560 ?

3) This line is not enough:
NVIDIA_DEV.1201.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560"

- Search the NV_Disp.inf file (e.g. from v275.33) for:
NVIDIA_DEV.1201.01

You will find line like (which must be copied also):
%NVIDIA_DEV.1201.01% = Section011, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1201

The 'Section0??' will probably (have to) be the same in lines about GTX 560 and for GTX 560 Ti
(GTX 560 Ti probably is %NVIDIA_DEV.1200.01% )

If the 'Section0??' match (is the same) for 560 Ti/560 in v275.33 make sure it also match in .inf for v266.44
(I mean the proper 'Section0??' may be different in the 2 .inf files)

- Search the NV_Disp.inf file for more lines containing 'GTX 560' (they will have different 'NVIDIA_DEV.????' - do the same with these)

E.g. see how there are 3 'GT 220' on the bottom of this file:
http://pastebin.com/Gh1qMbqp
NVIDIA_DEV.0A20.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 "
NVIDIA_DEV.0CA5.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220  "
NVIDIA_DEV.0CAC.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220   "

4) If you have SIV - click [PCI Bus] button, then [Copy] button, paste in Notepad

Look for line about your GPU, for mine is:
[2 - 00 - 0]  16   1002-6759-04031043-00 VGA Controller x16@1 (x16) AMD Radeon HD 6570 (NI TURKS)

The meaning of numbers:
1002- vendor (ATI) (NVIDIA is 10DE)
6759- DeviceID (Radeon HD 6570) (is your 1201 ?)
0403 product (video card model #)
1043 subvendor (ASUS) (MSI is 1462)

For you this have to be something like:
10DE-1201-????1462

(if it is not 1201 you need other (faked, edited) lines, not NVIDIA_DEV.1201.01 but with your DeviceID number, e.g.:
NVIDIA_DEV.1084.01
)

The results for msi.com and www.msi.com are much different:
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=msi.com
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.msi.com

But I don't expect to see any difference in using:
http://msi.com/service/download/
http://www.msi.com/service/download/

or:
http://msi.com/service/download/driver-15935.html
http://www.msi.com/service/download/driver-15935.html

because they point to the same server/files:
http://208.96.34.5/service/download/
http://208.96.34.5/service/download/driver-15935.html

(i.e. there is no difference if msi.com or www.msi.com is used - both resolve to the same IP)

The same is shown in Device Manager as:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6759&SUBSYS_04031043&REV_00

P.S.
Make copies of the .inf file
Start the install by setup.exe which is in the same dir as the .inf file
(if you by mistake start the original installer (which created C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\...) it may overwrite the .inf file with the original)

Message 1382103 - Posted: 17 Jun 2013, 11:02:40 UTC - in response to Message 1381181.

I would like to downgrade the drivers so that they will work better with GPU APs, have tried some but all says not compatible. The question is if there is any for GTX 560?

What is the problem you are having.
I have not found a driver downgrade to be helpful for my AP crunching problem.

Why are you wishing to go there?

There are probably better routes to go, as I have found.

Using newer drivers makes AP task use the same amount of CPU % as the AP CPU tasks does, so I need to take 2 CPU cores off, that doesn't happen with 26* drivers.

STOP -- STOP

In order to help JohnDK, everyone may be barking up the wrong tree. Lets sit back and re-examine the situation. From what he describes, he wants to run 2 OpenCL WUs on his GTX560 without reserving an additional core on his i7/850 machine.

Trying to find a driver and then to hack it to fit his needs is not the solution to his problem. You can run 2 AP OpenCl WUs without regressing to a previous GPU driver and run using only 1 core. I am doing it right now on a i7/950 machine with no problems. The solution is not with the driver, but with computer management. This should also work in his i7-2670QM, which I believe is a laptop. May I suggest the following:

1) Install the current NVidia driver (320.18)
2) It seems that you are using Lunatics, which is good. Edit the app_info.xml file and do the following for all of the AP apps.

<avg_ncpus>.5</avg_ncpus>
<max_ncpus>.5</max_ncpus>

This setting will reserve 1/2 core for each AP OpenCL WU. I have been using this setting for quite some time and it works. My queue has 96 OpenCl tasks in it right now with a avg. est. time of 1.02 hrs. May I also suggest that he set his BOINC Manager (6.10.60) to use a max of 80% of his multiprocessors, which should relieve him of any video lag that he may or may not be experincing. I know that there are people out there who like the older outdated BOINC Managers, but it might prove useful to upgrade to the current version (7.0.64).

Hope this helps!!

The drivers will use a full CPU core anyway with actual drivers.
Claggy posted a message at beta from a dev at collatz about it.
If you dont believe me maybe you believe a developer.

CPU utilization while running GPU OpenCL applications is a problem for NVidia as well as Intel. The application uses only asynchronous kernel and memory copy functions but the driver "overrides" and decides to block anyway. One "hack" suggested by NVidia was to create allocate a large number of command queues so that the driver would think it should use the actual asynchronous calls, but that has not worked for me. If it wasn't driver related, then why would the same application work fine on AMD GPUs? So, write your local Intel developer and ask them why their driver needs CPU time to run asynchronous OpenCL kernels. You would think it would work properly with NVidia GPUs since OpenCL came from them. Nope. NVidia can't even follow their own specs properly. And it they can't, why should Intel?

I'm taking that with a small pinch of salt, because the part I've picked out doesn't correspond with other sources.

OpenCL is (currently) the responsibility of the Khronos Group: http://www.khronos.org/opencl/.

According to Wiki (I know, not an authoritative source), it was originated by Apple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCL#History

I don't need to read what other people say. I can experience it on my own machines. I don't know what they are experiencing, but, I know full well what I see. I can run a 8800 & 250 with driver 266.58 and it damn sure doesn't use a full core. On the one dual core machine I can run two APs on the two cores and one on the 250 and it works perfectly fine. The machine is usable too. On the quad core I can run 3 CPU APs, one ATI AP and one NV AP. It works perfectly fine with around 80% CPU use and doesn't stress the 4th core until the ATI card hits a heavily blanked AP. I Have Yet To See The NV Card Stress the 4th Core While Using 266.58. I know what I see..

I'm currently trying the 250 on the Windows 8 machine with 320.18 and it sucks. It wants to use a full core for an AP and with just one CPU AP also running, the machine is not usable. I'm going to have to swap the 250 back to Multibeam if I keep it on the Windows 8 machine. There wasn't any problem using the ATI 4670 on that machine with one CPU AP running. There is a Huge difference between 266.58 and the other drivers. I just wish I could use it with Windows 8. If Multibeam doesn't work with Windows 8 any better than it did a few months ago, I'll probably swap everything back.

You are correct TBar.
Driver 266.58 is proven to work fine with OpenCL apps.

So how many work units per hour over a 24 ~ 48 hour period does the 266.58
driver produce, all other things being equal, compared to a 3xx driver
over the same period?

1) What is the error message when you try to install driver from nvidia_266.44_v764_vga.zip ?

You will find line like (which must be copied also):

E.g. see how there are 3 'GT 220' on the bottom of this file:
http://pastebin.com/Gh1qMbqp
NVIDIA_DEV.0A20.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 "
NVIDIA_DEV.0CA5.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220  "
NVIDIA_DEV.0CAC.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220   "

NVIDIA_DEV.1084.01
)

There was 2 entries for GTX 560 in 275 drivers, and looking for lines with NVIDIA_DEV in it, there was 6 lines in all, I copied them into 266.58 and they installed normally, all seems to work...

One strange thing though, BOINC calls my card NVIDIA D13U-15... Don't know what's up with that??

Mark has a few of these cards, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 (2047MB) driver: 314.22. Maybe you could ask him if he has the Installation CD, and which driver is on it? It appears this card was released about the time the 266 drivers were released. You might get lucky, he might even have a MSI...
