I would like to downgrade the drivers so that they will work better with GPU APs, have tried some but all says not compatible. The question is if there is any for GTX 560?

What is the problem you are having.
I have not found a driver downgrade to be helpful for my AP crunching problem.

Why are you wishing to go there?

There are probably better routes to go, as I have found.

Uh, the driver that comes with my 560 is 267.85 WHQL, so they should be out there.

That said, not having any trouble with 314.22; is there a particular issue you're having that requires the rollback?

Finding one below 270 seems difficult. I've tried 275.xx before and it still required a full CPU core. Has anyone tried 270.61? If 270.61 doesn't require a full core, I would probably upgrade from 266.58...

In general, for NVidia cards, the current driver package supports all card types released before the driver package was put together, but does not support cards released after the driver.

For the GTX 560 - which is a relatively modern card - the oldest compatible driver seems to be 275.33, released 1 June 2011. www.nvidia.com has a 'Beta and Legacy' search tool on its drivers menu.

Using newer drivers makes AP task use the same amount of CPU % as the AP CPU tasks does, so I need to take 2 CPU cores off, that doesn't happen with 26* drivers.

Strange, maybe a special build from the card maker?

Yes, likely a 'day 0' special driver that is only compatible with that single card model, before they integrate it into the general 'whole of range' product support drivers.

There's no 267.85 listed for my much older GTX 470 - that is supported right back to 197.75, but jumps direct from 266.58 to 270.61

That, again, suggests that yours is a 'product launch special', and that no earlier driver is likely to be compatible with the card.

Yeah, looked into it. Seems the 267.85 build is specific to ASUS boards (they had it listed for some 400 series cards as well). Happy to chuck it up on mega if you think you can use it, not sure it'll have any utility unless the board is asus though.

Don't assume it will work on a MSI card, thanks anyway :)

If the Asus and MSI cards are a compatible card to the driver when the driver asks the card, the driver will install, if the card is not compatible, the driver install will quit. Simple as that.

OK, maybe I should try, couldn't hurt.

So MonChrMe, if you'll upload the driver I'll try it out...

If you do a Google search for GeForce 267.85 WHQL you will receive many hits. I didn't see any that lead back to nVidia.com, so, I didn't bother posting any. You might try that...

I'm almost sure 266.58 or 266.66 driver will work with GTX 560 but for install will need a NV_Disp.inf hack/edit
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-266.58-whql-driver.html
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-266.66-whql-driver.html

NV_Disp.inf is probably in similar directory:
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\266.58\Vista 64-bit\International\Display.Driver\
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\266.58\Vista 64-bit\English\Display.Driver\

Do you want to do the hack?

You can find the MSI version here; Msi N560GTX-M2D1GD5 Graphics Card Driver 266.44 for Win 7

Instead of jumping through the Download Games there, Click on the Name, not the DL link. On the next page, look to the left and click on 'See full specifications'. On that page copy & Google the File Name like 'nvidia_266.44_v732_vga.zip', that is a MSI name. When you Google the File name it will give you the link to Download straight from MSI, like http://msi.com/service/download/driver-15934.html

It's amazing what you can find with Google. Why, I once found someone's Super Secret Download link at Lunatics for a Banished CPU App. Just by Googling the file name.

One has to wonder what happened to the Installation CD that came with that card...

Who knows, people lose stuff almost all the time, sure it's a generalization, but it does happen.
