Have experience this before, so guess its about time to post a comment. I wouldn't otherwise except concerned about CPU heat and not being able to control the % of CPU allocation when the AP v6 6.04 is running. AP v6 6.01 runs fine & able to control the CPU % allocation as deemed necessary. Not sure how much more info is needed, but my system parameters are on my account and should be visible (assume). I am way below a novice in understanding the complexities of subject matter you folks are discussing, so bear with me if I need to provide more info before anyone can offer a solution. One instance of things getting out of control happened some days ago with a different iteration of AP you folks sent me. I literally had to abort the process to even get control over the computer. May sound far fetched, but it happened. Thanks for any assistance that can be provided. |

Astropulse v6 6.04 (opencl_nvidia_100) runs, as the name implies, on your Nvidia GPU, not on your CPU. The CPU will be used, but mostly only for transporting data to the GPU and back to the hard drive, not for calculations. |

Thanks for the response -- Yes, I may have assumed that, but I also have the other AP iteration running at the same time - with it (6.01)by itself I have good control over CPU use, but with the 6.04 iteration added in or by itself, I have no control and it causes the CPU to run at 100% or above. I assume the 6.04 iteration has the predominate influence over what can be controlled with my "tweaking". Since I do not want "things" to "burn", I may have to revaluate running the 6.04.. Thanks, again. |

Since I do not want "things" to "burn" ... Then control it, use TThrottle: http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/ Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
