Message 1381588 - Posted: 15 Jun 2013, 20:24:58 UTC - in response to Message 1381569.

I have 4 PC's running Seti@home: i7 Quad Core Win7-64 at 100% does most of the work. I have over 17 million units credit. When I upgraded all PC's to Ver 7, my user average output began dropping immediately from over 21,000/day to less than 12,000 a day and still dropping. Looks like it will end up about 1/2 my old daily output. Every machine is running slower. Should I go back to the last version before Ver 7?
Wayne

Assuming you are running Win OS on your PC.

Could the fall away be due to the MS security updates sent for install on 12/06/2013?

I found, on another project, my crunch times rose by over 25%, and this occurred on 2 separate AMD GPUs under 2 different Win OSs (XP pro x86 and Win 7 x64).

I rolled the Win 7 PC back to 01/06/2013 and the crunch times of the project WUs are restored to the pre 12/06 security updates.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

No.
For people running optimised applications going from v6 to v7 will result in at least a 50% reduction in RAC. For those running stock the droop will be less.

Should I go back to the last version before Ver 7?

No, because no new work is being produced for v6. Once all the resends are done that's it- no more v6 work at all, only v7.

Any more questions- best asked in the Number Crunching forum.

Why is there a reduction with the V7? If it takes the time to process them, then they should have the same value as V6. That would make all comparisons to past work done, worthless, since these work units don't pull the same weight as the prior version.

Plenty of discussion on that in Number Crunching.

There are a quite a few tasks that are completed and shown as "ready to report" in the BOINC manager, but they just stay without getting reported to the server. Is there something I need to do, such as changing the settings?
Thanks for your help.

I thought my computer was going out, or the graphics were going out, now it seems I'm not alone. What I get not reading things here. I'm gone for days at a time and lately I come back to a blank screen, the whole things is froze up. And yes it all seems slower. AMD X2 7750 6 GIGS RAM, spends 99% of its time running the screen saver, spit between SETI and Einstein Gravity waves. At lest I can feel better about not needing a new computer right now..

Just a sugestion, stop the SETI screensaver, it´s actualy have nothing to help with the crunchig process, just do a "cosmetic" work, that will save a lot of computer resources.

'Сигналите'/задачите не се пращат избирателно:
- SETI@home няма контрол върху телескопа
- телескопа в Arecibo може да вижда само част от небето
http://seti.berkeley.edu/setiathome/glossary/skymaps

- компютъра получава някоя от задачите налични в момента (няма никакъв начин за избор и не се предвижда да има)

В момента се изпращат задачи от 2008-2012 ('Splitter status' колона 'File name'):
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html

(обичайно пиша на английски, но този път за разнообразие на български)

It seems my Boinc for Seti and rosetta are not doing anything and cannot be updated. I have tried manually to request an updated task. But nothing. I can not find out where to contact boinc. Since there is no work available should i remove it from my system?
