I've been a BIONIC participant for a year or so, signing up with SETI@HOME in that time. I was most recently running two projects, SETI and EINSTEIN, on my Windows7 machine with an ATI 5750 card. Unfortunately, the latest update has forced me to delete this project from my list.

After the last update, SETI took over BIONIC and my video card. Soon after the update, the program loaded around 50 jobs, not really a problem. The real problem was the project began using 100% of my video card resources. Frequently, my bowser, curser, video, etc would become intermittent or stop for a time. These corresponded to the 100% usage on my GPU meter. The issue would immediately stop when I paused or quit BIONIC.

After looking for a setting to stop this behavior and several weeks of frustration, SETI finally got the blade. All the jobs and the project were deleted, started running EINSTEIN exclusively.

So, posting my experience. Wondering if this is a common problem. Willing to come back if it can be fixed.

BK, a wander around the "number crunching" forum should provide you with answers to your questions about GPU loading, browser performance etc.

There are any number of things you could do to solve that problem. At some point you changed you must have changed your preference preferences to compute on the video card while you are using the computer. If you change "Suspend GPU work while computer is in use?" back to "yes" your problem should go away.

and make sure the Activity menu's are set to 'Run based on Preferences' for both Overall and GPU. (If you set eihier to run always, it'll do that)

AFAIK no military intelligence in the world would care about a program searching for alien intelligence. The Royal Air Force has just closed a UFO documentation office involving just 2 people. There are no UFO.

I disagree.

The definition for an Unidentfified Flying Object (UFO) does not include the requirement of an artificial or even extraterrestrial origin.
An UFO ist just an
Unidentfied (noone knows what it really was)
Flying (moving through the air or at least looking like doing so)
Object (of any shape, size, color etc).

There is no word about an extraterrestrial involvement.

The misperception comes from all the Hollywood movies way back from the 1950s and 1960s, where an UFO was set equal to an extraterrestrial spacecraft.

You should not do the same mistake.

From all the UFO sightings, there is a small percentage, which could not be explained. Exactly that are UFOs. Again, that doesn't say, that it were extraterrestrial spacecraft.

For a slightly skewed opinion this is worth looking at: http://www.twogag.com/archives/1877

The rest of the strip is pretty good as well. No interest other than as a reader.

Eric, you may want to look at "Observation of CreditNew Impact (3)" in the Number Crunching forum. There is still a problem with the credit system.

What is the deal with the new pop-up, trying to sell me something? I came to process for the fun of it. Not to be sold something.

The girls along the side was ok with me, but not for my wife. He had a fit. Now, there are several pop-ups everytime I look at my account. That one I don't care for.

If SETI is trying to drive me away, your off to a good start.

Let's cut the sales link and work on science for finding ET.

The pop ups are not from Seti. Something else on your rig is generating those.

Agreed with Uli. SETI doesn't advertisements on it's site, and the Admins have stated that the site never will use advertisements.

This is something on your local computer generating those ads.

Yes, we'll never do ads because that would jeopardize the entire University's tax exempt status. And get me fired.
