I heard of this project long ago... but I never got involved. I recently recalled this and went to google and found it was still alive. So no more procrastination.... 1 decade is enough. I installed boinc and added seti@home.

It seems to be working.... I changed a few basic settings and I think its still going ok.

Only issue thus far (besides being clueless about the whole operation) was a nasty Blue screen of death... but I saw it happen... immediately when the computer tried to show the 'boinc' screensaver. I dunno what it wanted to do... but I changed my screensaver to just 3D TEXT... nothing fancy and it seems to be working fine now.

Whats TEAMS... CREDIT... etc ? If there some kind of newbie FAQ kicking around I can read so I don't blunder around aimlessly.... I'd like to make a meaningful contribution rather than have this thing incorrectly configured and accomplish nothing that helps.

Teams are optional - they are about sharing your score, getting help, and generally being social.
Credits are awarded for the work you have done, they can be used, when everything is stable, to compare the effects of changes to your computer, or that are made to the systems as a whole. There is a rumour going round that if you get enough you will receive a toaster, but nobody has ever declared a verifiable claim...
