For some reason I can't seem to get tasks uploaded , I have been having some internet problems lately and I just figured that was the problem .

I have Wild blue Sat internet , that is having some problems with intermittent connections ( effects of opening web pages is BAD ) But all the Uploads get to 100 % and go to retry in ? time... I have obnly been able to get 5 WU's uploaded in several hours of hitting retry .

No problems with uploads, downloads or Scheduler requests here.

I'd reset the router, shut-down and restart the computer, and if that didn't work, I'd go get a tall refreshing glass of something caustic and I'd pour it into the computer, then, if anything was still moving I'd kick it, and maybe take it outside and shoot it right between the DIMMS.

At some point, you just gotta.

Now, what were you saying? Oh yeah, it uploads the whole file, says it uploaded the whole file, and then tells you that it's going to retry uploading the whole file?

I think what I'd do is reach deep inside the case and yank every wire I could get my hands on so hard that I'd either dislocate my shoulder or end-up throwing the entire computer completely across the room. Then I'd run across the room grabbing for any heavy object I could reach, and I'd pound and pound and pound it until it was completely unrecognizable as a computer, then I'd take it out into the driveway and run over it with the car.

If you've re-booted the PC & Modem, and are having issues with your ISP, i'd go with the upload problem being a result of the ISP issues.

And if THAT does work...

EDIT -> Seriously, did you shut the computer OFF or just do a restart? I have no idea why OFF sometimes works and restarts don't, but sometimes they do. Do you need instructions on trying a Proxy Server? Frankly I don't know of a good address but I'll try to help you find one if necessary. <-EDIT ENDS

If you've re-booted the PC & Modem, and are having issues with your ISP, i'd go with the upload problem being a result of the ISP issues.

I am looking into that with the ISP tech people also.
They say that they are showing a good signal / connection from my modem to them.
That is why I posted a excerpt from the event log also on an earlier post here.
BUT , I am still having a running discussion with them about the situation also.
They are supposed to run some more in-depth tests on their end and get back to me on it.
This is happening on all the PC's ...
I even took the router out of the circuit and went straight from the modem to my main PC and still have same problem . Ran antivirus , Spybot S&D , and did a network diagnostic test... no help...

I will check back tomorrow if the internet is still working enough to do that.

Don't copy it from the FAQ as so. There's a far easier method of getting a fully functional cc_config.xml file with all the correct flags and options in it, without having to write one yourself, or copy it from places.

Just open BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tools->Computing preferences->exclusive applications. Now add a program through the option here, any program will do. Just click the Add.. button and go find the first executable that you come across. Then add it. OK out. This will have added a full cc_config.xml file to your BOINC Data directory.

Then just navigate to your BOINC Data directory, find the file and open it with Notepad. Not with Wordpad, not with Internet Explorer, not with an XML reader, not with Open Office, not with anything else, just Notepad.

Next scroll to the line <file_xfer_debug>0</file_xfer_debug> and change the 0 to 1. Press CTRL+S to save changes, then open BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Advanced->Read (all) config files. This will activate the debug flag and give extra output in Event Log (CTRL+SHIFT+E).

(Edit, or indeed, set <http_debug>1</http_debug> as Richard says.)


(And uh, by the way, the BOINC FAQ STATES where to put the cc_config.xml, you just have to read carefully.)

For BOINC 6.1 - all above that:
Save the cc_config.xml file into your BOINC Data directory. See this FAQ for the default paths to it.

I strongly recommend that you do the initial global replacement to >0< (disabled) - you don't want every class of message in your log, you'll never find anything in the resulting mess.

Then selectively change the individual tags to 1, just for the events you're interested in. <http_debug> would be the starting point in your case.

The Internet connection must have been too bad to do anything , I got them to do a service call , and it is working for now , not sure how long it will work. !

If you 'love' that file - copy it somewhere.

Then edit the original (that is in the Boinc Data Dir) and delete everything between
<log_flags>
</log_flags>
except the lines you need.

Because some of these are ON by default (when no cc_config.xml exist) and you set them to OFF by using 0 everywhere.

The normal (by default) flags are:
