Message 1376177 - Posted: 3 Jun 2013, 21:23:57 UTC

Have these four computers (6619276-running V7 by deleting app.xml and resetting the project)(If it is possible; could some one look at this computer and see if it is good to go? Can post any info needed). Would like to use cpu/gpu on the computers. Not getting any gpu right now.

Was on Arkayn site but looking at the different dl's and reading all forum messages; getting more confused as to what I need for the win7/xp computers.

win7/64 bit/gtx 460 se
win7/64 bit/gtx 660
both xp/32 bit/gtx 460

If there are any of V7 gura's that could help me on deciding which files would be the best; they can have a cold beer on me.

1) Finish all the units.
2) Turn off BOINC.
3) Delete app_info.xml
4) Start BOINC.
5) In the BOINC Manager go to Projects tab, select SETI@home, click Reset project in the Commands panel (it contains, from the top: Update, Suspend, Allow new tasks, Reset project, etc.).

That is the situation. Which installer for which computer os. There the 32 and 64 bit cpu/gpu ones. Can I do as Spitfire said to do. It worked on my one windows 7 but will it work on the xp's?

Yes.

The OS is no requirement but the driver versions are.
As i can see you are totally fine.
Of course you need the win32 installer for XP.

Why would you run 32-bit BOINC on a 64-bit machine?

OK guys

From what I can gather is for Windows 7 would be

AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_Intel_r1761 and x41ZC_Winx64_cuda50.7Z

and the XP (32 bit) would be

AP6_winx86_SSE2_OpenCL_Intel_r1761 and x41zc_Win32_cuda50.7z

One of the Win 7 machine is supposeally using the V7 but is not getting any gpu tasks. That is the one I deleted the app file and reset the project the other day.

All the video drivers are updated (320.18)

You machines:

Machine 1.
C2D Q6600
32-bit Xp
GTX 460
You need 32-bit installer. Use SSSE3 for CPU. Use CUDA 4.2 for GPU.

Machine 2.
i7 920
64-bit Win7
GTX 460SE
You need 64-bit installer. Check CPU-z for which instruction set to use for CPU. Use CUDA 4.2 for GPU.

Machine 3.
i7 870
64-bit Win7
GTX 660
Use 64-bit installer. Check CPU-z for which instruction set to use for CPU. Use CUDA 5 for GPU.

Mistake I think

AP6_win_x86_SSE_CPU_r1797 for windows 7 (64 bit) and xp (32 bit)

and

x41zc_Win32_cuda50.7z for XP and x41zc_Win64_cuda50.7z for win 7 (64 bit)
Hope this is correct

Spitfire:

That was exactly what I was asking.

I did just now that I need the cuda 4.2 for the 460 cards. Had been using it also for the 660 but will use the 5.0 for it.

Disregard the last message. both are not right.

So for the three that are using the 460 would use the 4.2 cuda and the 660 the 5.0 cuda.

All the computers would use the SSE2_OpenCL_Intel_r1764 or r1761. What is the difference between the two versions?

Hope this right

No, OpenCL_Intel apps are only appropriate for your host 6973688 which has Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I haven't followed that GPU app development closely, see the Open beta for OpenCL AstroPulse for Intel GPUs started thread.

Yes, that's the Astropulse on CPU app in the v0.41 installers. It should be selected by default when you run the installer. On that same first selection page, the SSSE3 version of AKv8c will also be selected for doing Multibeam v7 and v6 on CPU and that's appropriate for the Q6600 and i7 systems. The second selection page for AMD/ATI GPU processing doesn't apply. On the third selection page (for NV - cuda) I would enable OpenCL processing of Astropulse and CUDA processing of Multibeam v7 and v6, choosing the cuda50 version for the GTX 660 card and the cuda42 version for the GTX 460 cards.

I'll note that the SSSE3 choice for CPU processing of Multibeam v7 and v6 is definitely best for the Q6600, but it is possible that on the i7 systems the SSE2 version could be slightly faster. Those Nehalem chips differ considerably from the Core 2 Q6600. I suggest not worrying about that, most of the productivity of your systems will come from GPU processing. But if you wanted to achieve the best tuning you might sometime test the SSE2 version of AKv8c on those i7 systems to see how they respond.
                                                                  Joe

Noticed that the 6619276 computer has download some of the nvidia opencl tasks.

Didn't installed any files manually. It was all done by Boinc after deleting the app_info file and resetting the project.

Guys, when somebody says _Installer_ they mean INSTALLER, not the separate app packages.

You want

Lunatics_Win64_v0.41_setup.exe for the 64bit systems and

Lunatics_Win32_v0.41_setup.exe for the 32 bit systems.
A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain)
