I hope there is an easy way out.

The only way out is to uninstall BOINC (Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features) and reinstall it from the installer. Then uncheck the Service Install. :)

Note that this procedure is safer than it sounds. Although the uninstall/reinstall process will remove and replace your BOINC programs, all your SETI information, like tasks in progress and account statistics, are kept in a separate place and will be unaffected - likewise, any other projects you are crunching for.

Thank you and Ageless,

All done and working.

I used computers in the 70s original Commodore PET (still got it somewhere) with an upgrade to 32k dynamic RAM overlay board and addition floppy drives and Apple spec printer with Commodore interface, bought in USA in 1980. and then BBC B. Both in basic (BBC very good with procs), and some assembler.
Now however I am lost. I used also to be able to strip down an engine. Now have problems removing the engine cover! Underneath, your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway thank you all. It is really nice to see that there are still helpful friendly people out there.

The source has always been available. Just check it out in SVN using https://setisvn.ssl.berkeley.edu/svn/seti_boinc for the stock version
https://setisvn.ssl.berkeley.edu/svn/branches/sah_v7_opt for optimized and GPU versions.

I hear you. I've spent several years on a C64, before moving to PCs (1995). I still have my C64, and have wondered if it can be attached to my 42 inch LED TV. One day I'll go test that... :)

IIRC, a C-64 has composite video out.

OT/ON
If the LED has a built-in analog TV tuner, no prob.
The C-64 has also an antenna cable connector.

My C-128 has both composite and high resolution RGBI and twice the memory and twice the speed in 128 mode. And an extra-Z80 processor so I can run CP/M apps.
:P

I'm still working on porting SETI@home to it.

Ah, but can it do these? http://www.studiostyle.sk/dmagic/gallery/gfxmodes.htm :)

I wonder if there's an FFT that can run in 1KB (ZX80) or 48KB (C64). :-)

To which address would I need to send the floppy disk with the results?

edit: oh sorry a Z80 - the tape then.
edit2: should read more carefully :) It's Jord who would have to send in a tape. unless you can make it to run on a ZX81 with 1+32 kB in which case you can have my tapes too.

I used to do 256-channel FFTs in CBASIC on a (Z80) Exidy Sorcerer -- cutting-edge stuff in Antarctica in 1980. It was faster to precompute the arrays of sins and coses needed, and then read them in from floppy disk, than to calculate them every run.

Hey - another Sorcerer user - I've still got mine in the cellar. But I did boring things like word processing and mailing lists on mine.

LOL, yes, there appears to be a difference between a Z80 and a ZX80, other than the added extra X. My fault! :)

I've still got mine too, in storage in Byron Bay. Last time I checked, maybe 20 years ago, there was a bus problem between the computer and the S100 expansion unit. I'm hoping next time I'm home to at least retrieve the Micropolis floppy disks and see if I can find someone who can read them -- some results I got in Mawson which were pooh-poohed as not fitting the orthodox view of upper-atmospheric science, and so never published, are now apparently mainstream; it'd be nice to claim priority!

Now that's just 3hrs away down the hill from here, but sadly it's not the place that I remember these days.

Cheers.

Check the applications page, one has already been released for AMD GPUs, the Cuda version is in the process of being ported.
