Message 1372800 - Posted: 28 May 2013, 20:29:09 UTC

I got home from work today to find I had 20 validation inconclusives.
I was devistated, and had a look as to who I was inconclusive with.
I have PMd some people recently , and they have been actually rather pleased that I had got in touch and they could sort their computers out.
I give up when a Core2 with a 9600GT can recieve 4532WUs.

The other two today are just as bad, with errors and inconclusives.

I feel Wiggo's frustration.

I know this project is supposed to be "set and forget", but I can't understand why people would sign up to something they obviously have no interest in.

I hear you. But the real issue is the deplorable way that GPU's are treated in development by the manufacturers. The stuff is so bleeding edge that it can be dang near impossible to get compatible libraries and cards. In a set and forget environment, if a user gets or misses a driver update, all heck breaks loose, but his game keeps on playing so he never knows there is a problem.

I'm not really blaming anybody.
I just feel that if you sign up to a project, you must have some interest in it to begin with,or you wouldn't do it.
When people first join a project,I'm sure they have at least a quick look at the message boards,to get a rough idea of whats going on in the project before they sign up to it(I know I did,and I'm sure I'm not unique).

Sorry Mike,I'm trying to think of the right way to word this, but I haven't really slept(due to work) for a few days.

I'll answer properly tomorrow afternoon (day off).

The short answer is, that this ( and every other project) needs valid ,correct results or it's pointless doing it.Especially when you get computers with massive amounts of errors/invalids validating with other error producing computers.
Bed time !!!! :)

True, but you would think that they would at least check their results.

Cheers.

The asterisks denote long term invalid polluters but hopefully around 70% of them will disappear once V7 is released.

That's an impressive list. As you know a big RAC, such as you have casts a wide net.

It's good to see that those long time crappy rigs are now being throttled back on work dramatically since the server side caps have been implemented and those GT/GTX 6xx cards are no longer trashing workunits all over the place.

Great work and congrats to the guys in the lab.

Cheers.
