Micheal Watsons link in another thread about the cosmic background radiation has reminded me of something that popped up in the TV series Stargate: Universe. In the program a race of beings about a million years ago discovered that there was a pattern in the cosmic background radiation and sent a ship to investigate it, and apparently there could be some truth to it:

The kitties approve this message.

I have been doing the Seti search for over 12 years going on 13.

And, despite what some may think, I am not a silly soul.
It is costing me THOUSANDS of dollars a year to maintain the search that I believe in.
And I DO believe in it.
Why else would I?

One day we shall be rewarded with the truth.

Maybe soon, eh?
Always remember.....kitties are all Angels with fur.

Yes Msattler it is a good read but not what Micheal's link says that one has been faked .

I do believe in God but I don't like bogus science to prove it

It would be something to tell the grandkids.

Seti? *puffs on pipe* Let me tell you a story kids, a long time ago there was a project called Seti@home, and what we did was analyse radio stuff to find the signal that may possibly be extraterrestrial in origin. *puffs on pipe* Now in them days... *notices grandkids have fallen asleep* Ah, to be young again :)

Zapped Sparky, Loved the TV series Stargate Universe. I just wished they would have ended it better.

Here is another version: Cosmic microwave background

Cosmic microwave background seen by Planck

21 March 2013

Acquired by ESA’s Planck space telescope, the most detailed map ever created of the cosmic microwave background – the relic radiation from the Big Bang – was released today revealing the existence of features that challenge the foundations of our current understanding of the Universe.

The image is based on the initial 15.5 months of data from Planck and is the mission’s first all-sky picture of the oldest light in our Universe, imprinted on the sky when it was just 380 000 years old.

Zapped I must say sorry the catholic picture is at the ESA web site and it was ESA that changed it they enhanced the red and blue to make it stand out so Micheal's link was right I only questioned the picture not the article

This would be very close to the Hindu view of the Universe, which I could gather from a book by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. There is not only the Jewish/Christian/Muslim view of the Universe but there are other cultures and philosophies.

Most exciting to know that there may be, as suspected by a number of scientist,
other universes in existence.

Scientists believe they have found the first evidence that other universes exist after analysing the data gathered by the European Space Agency's Planck spacecraft. Theories that our universe could be just one of billions -- perhaps an infinite number - have been discussed for decades but until now they have lacked any evidence.

Well these guys have more scientific knowledge in their little finger than I have in the whole of my body (yes I know that's not hard to do!) I still think that there is just the one infinite Universe with lots of smaller "things" in it. For things I class that as something like our own observable bit of the Universe, we see as the aftermath of our local big bang.

The map, based on Planck data, showed anomalies in the background radiation that, some experts say, could only have been caused by the gravitational pull of other universes outside our own, "These anomalies were caused by other universes pulling on our universe as it formed during the Big Bang,"

I think the results they have got are correct but maybe not for the reasons that they think. I think that there are lots of local big bangs in the main universe caused by exploding black holes, and many other black holes still forming. Its more likely to be the presence of infinite numbers of supermasive black holes, that caused the anomalies seen.

But its easy to see why they coin the phrase other universes. If billions of light years away there is a civilisation that is living in the aftermath of their own local big bang, as we are, then they would naturally assume that the universe is everything that they could observe themselves. They wouldn't know we existed, any more than we know they do. It's not other universes that have been detected, its other big bangs like ours in the main one.

Of course I cant prove a word of the above, I never will be able to, but it's as good an idea as any other, and I don't mind in the slightest that no-one else agrees :-))
