o/, Yes seen the FAQ and i did some reading on the forum. However it does not solve anything, so i suspended the use of my GPU for now. Put the GPU in power saver, so it lowers clock speed at it is normally overclocked. I run a Asus GTX 660 DCII OC(going SLI soon) with a i7 3770(none K) and 16GB DDR# ram in XMP. Tried the lunatic app and no luck there either just a Dos screen that pops up that generates a error log. Is there anything else out there that will fix this or do i have to wait for the next update of the SETI software to be released to get proper CUDA support? |

No overheating problems i forgot to mention that, stable 51 Celcius. |

There is a known problem with the 6xx family of cards, and a couple of known solutions - there is a post by one of the main testers who has come up with a couple of solutions. The favoured one is the second on his list - take a look at this thread: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69735 I would add this this solution does require a re-boot, but certainly has kept my GTX690s running smoothly. Yes i did add the environment code line, nothing, Rolling back drivers does not work for GTX 660 series. Hence me asking on the forums what to do next. |

One a side note, main reason for asking this question is that in the future i might be able to provide more processing power but that will involve CUDA. It will be mainly for scientific use but when the project is not running anything i would consider running some BOINC projects when it would be idle. Is there a fix in the pipe line? |

There is an official fix in the pipeline, but we don't know how long that pipeline is. But There is a well known, and stable "unofficial" fix that keeps my GTX690s working in a very effective manner. During your prowls around the forum you may well have come across the "Lunatics" and other "Optimised" applications, it is alleged that the next official release will be based on these - take a look at Jason's website (http://jgopt.org/) where you will find more information, and last time I looked there were various applications to download. Be warned however, these have to be manually installed, and while not exactly difficult it certainly not for those who don't want to work on the S@H control files. Got it to work, set the amount of processors to 9(8CPU+1GPU) Added the command line manually under the control panel. Can now run my GTX 660 over clocked stable at 55 celcius. Running the latest BETA drivers of NVidia. Without any manual modding of files :) But thanks for the advice and info, up and running \o/ "Veni Vidi V", I came, I saw and then i launched right of my frickin planet! |

Just to make sure my method works but does the other method(s) mentioned above provide a higher CUDA core effiency? "Veni Vidi V", I came, I saw and then i launched right of my frickin planet! |

If it works for you, and allows you to return valid results then it is far more efficient for you than another "solution" that doesn't work. Now you've got it working, make sure it is stable by running for several days before worrying about increasing performance. Did not try to more extensive solutions you suggested, was just looking at the fact IF i could increase performance. This rig has been bench marked over and over again so it is stable. Running it slightly below what normally would when bench marking at top speed, CPU tends to get a bit hot(89 celcius) i probably need better cooling though.
