This might be a repeat?? Earth-Sized Planet In Habitable Zone Discovered For First Time By Kepler Telescope The SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center have uncovered 715 new exoplanets using the Keppler telescope. The newly-discovered planets orbit 305 different stars, some resemble our own solar system, a SETI news release reported. http://www.hngn.com/articles/33380/20140610/earth-sized-planet-in-habitable-zone-discovered-for-first-time-by-kepler-telescope.htm |

The second attempt of Kepler 10 billion dollars to detect planets so far away we could never ever get to them. Whats the point when it takes 55 lightyears to the nearest earth sized planet. that only 1,350,000 years one way. What exactly is the purpose of even looking for more. No other star system can be reached in a lifetime. A true waste of money. |

The goal of Kepler wasn't to search for planets near us, but to do a statistical census of planets in our galaxy: what is the percentage of Earth-sized planet? what is the percentage of gas giants? how many planets are in the galaxy? As for near planets, you have a 1.13 Earth-mass planet in Alpha Centauri! |
