Message 1367130 - Posted: 12 May 2013, 13:59:47 UTC

Thank You Claggy on telling me where to post to!

Yes, I do leave BONIC running, like I said 24/7. I did have it shut down on May 6th. May 7th, 8th, and the 9th, there is nothing reported, and on the 10th, it has one job to validate, and on the 11th, it has one job to validate. I have jobs to be done all the way back to May 1st. Like I also said, I average 12 jobs per day, 2 of them are the Astro Pulse, and the rest are SETI. The Astro Pulse ones seem to be done first, validated, and credits given.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue?

Again, Thanks for your help!

Ed

To find out whether if it was crunching and what it was crunching during the 6th to the 11th you could have a look at your Event Log from that peroid, the file you'd want to look at is called stdoutdae.txt (older entries are in stdoutdae.old),
you'll find it in your Boinc Data directory, the location is in Boinc's startup log, for Win 7 the default location is: C:\ProgramData\BOINC and is a hidden directory, to see it you'd need to unhide it or paste the address straight into explorer.

Hi Claggy,

Just wanted you to know, that under the report you told me to look at, it does show all that work being transferred up to BONIX, it's just not reflecting on my Results page. Is that normal?

I just transferred 8 jobs up, and on the Results page, it shows just 4.

Thanks,
Ed

I see 8 validated tasks reported 14 May 2013, 12:40:38 UTC?

Validated tasks are only kept for 24 hours before the record is removed from the viewable lists.
An AP might have crept in, stuffed the cache and gone into EDF.
It might have overfetched and realised when APR kicked in, resulting in no workfetch for a while.
With a slow turnover, most likely your tasks validate straight away and are purged (after 24h), so you don't see them anymore when you look now, only those that are still pending or inconclusive.
If you shut down for a few days, boinc recalculates cache and EDF which may have inhibited workfetch for a while, too.

Nothing should have gotten lost.

If I understand you, your computer completed 8 tasks and uploaded them. It sounds like it didn't report them yet, though, and the 4 you see are probably earlier ones. Uploading and reporting are two separate actions. Very often, Boinc will wait until several tasks have been completed and uploaded, then report them all at once. Tasks show as "in progress" in your stats until they've been reported, even after they're uploaded.

It is also possible to upload and not be able to report, due to the scheduling server being down (for maintenance, most likely). The download and upload servers run independently of the scheduler and usually continue to function when it's down. But when the scheduler is down, as it will be mid-day today, you won't be able to see your stats page either; you'll just get a message about the project being down for maintenance.

Thank You All for the information!!! I greatly appreciate your help, and knowledge with BONIX.

I will be logging off for a few days, and see if that helps, like it's been suggested.

?! I don't think anybody suggested that logging off helps.
Your computer is crunching fine.

What you think of as 'lost tasks' are probably only tasks for which the record has already been removed from the database, after they validated.

If you look about twice a day and keep track of a particular task you should be seeing the whole process as it appears on the website.
NB the website doesn't know what happens on your computer. It only updates its records when your computer (or the computer of your wingmate) tells it that the task has been processed.
