Can a GTX650TI process more than a task at the same time? Apologies if it is a FAQ, but I tried to make my homework searching past posts, but for some reason I have not been able to find the answer. Sleepy |

Yes, at least 2 instances are easily possible with your card. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Thank you very much. Then I have to look harder, because at the moment I am still stuck with one (<count> brings me to a (one, just one) "waiting to run" task for CUDA. Some further fiddling with app_info.xml and the drivers (I am on 310.70 form Asus) needed, then. And no, I do not want if possible to switch to Boinc 7.xxx. Still happy with 6.6.38 environment. :-) Thank you again, Sleepy |

You need to change count to 0.5. Thats all. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

You need to change count to 0.5. All 6 of them. Cheers. |

You need to change count to 0.5. Or you run Boinc 7.0.64, make an app_config.xml and you only need to do a 'read config file' to change the instances running at once, no need to change six entries, no need to restart Boinc, and less likely hood of doing a typo and wasting your cache: <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> <max_concurrent>6</max_concurrent> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> Claggy |

It depends on the amount of video memory installed on your video card. If you have GTX 650ti with 1 GB of video memory, you can run 3 tasks, each task takes about 200-260 MB of video memory. The side effect of running more than one task is that each task takes longer to to finish. When I do 1 task, the task finishes in about 12 minutes. When I do 2 tasks, each task takes about 18-20 minutes. I am doing 3 tasks right this moment, the estimate is 27-29 minutes for each task. If you want to install Lunatics custom app that will create app_info.xml file for you (it sounds like you already have one), drop me a private message. I run BOINC 7.0.25 with Lunatics v0.40 installer, I made a shortcut on my desktop to the app_info.xml file, this way I turn off BOINC, change the gpu count in 5-6 places (use Find in the Notepad) in app_info.xml, restart BOINC, go do other things. It is a little annoying if you have to change it often, but it is better than partial instructions that people throw out and expect you to guess the rest. |

Thanks everybody for your suggestions. During these silent days, I have been twisting and bending all settings. And things are now running almost smoothly. The problem I had to solve was produced by many factors: 1) I have an Asus GTX650Ti card and using drivers downloaded directly from Nvidia site was no good. 2) I was using Boinc 6.10.38. This also gave problems. I have passed through the latest Boinc, controlled with it that my app_info.xml was correct (it was since first attempt) and set up everything to have the GPU run 3 concurrent tasks (testing which of 2 or 3 tasks is best) and Lunatics XC application. <counts> works perfectly, and it would have from the start if only there were no other issues. 3) Installed 6.10.55 and this works fine and has the old interface which I greatly prefer. Today, after the reminder by Wiggo, I added also the required environment variable to reduce the possibility of errors for the 6xx cards. Look here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69735 Still, I cannot use the test application by eFMer. This still errors out for me. I hope this approach to solve problems may help someone who was in my same dire straits. Sleepy |

sleepy, is there any chance that you can post GPU-z sensor tab pictures for both running 2 and 3 w/u's as I'm interested in the loadings that they produce on that card. Cheers. |
