Ok, I've started to install a few components, the two fan ducts installed here are just to prove that 25mm thick fans can be installed above the radiator with the screws that came with the Coolgate 360x120x60mm radiator, but then I don't have enough Delta 113cfm fans for both My current PC and the one here, yet, also I'm not sure an 86mm thick radiator would fit with the R3E motherboard. Plus I installed the bottom filter that will be between the psu and the case. The original 200mm fan above where the radiator is now had 3 screws installed with blue locktite, I had to use a small screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers to remove those screws. Oh and cause of the radiator the top bay would be restricted to shorter than normal devices like a fan controller.

Ok a small update, I found that if I want to install 3 Koolance 120x25mm 108cfm fans above the radiator and below the plastic top where the 200mm fan used to be, I'll need some 6-32 1-1/2" screws and some #6 washers and along with the other screws I need for the current PC, that's $21.06 with tax from the Home Depot, but that will have to wait until about July 2013, as My income for June 2013 is just not able to go that far, cause of events beyond My control or prediction. Of course I'll need a Phobya 4-Pin to 6 x 3-Pin Fan Splitter PCB($12.49) to connect the 3 fans to the psu, when I get that far, cause right now the only other workable psu I have is an 850w TX850 Corsair, I do have an Enermax 1050w psu, but it needs the 24 pin cable repaired before it could be useable again, as the green wire connector is damaged.

I found 9(used 8, as 1 is under a water block) screws to mount the motherboard with and removed the back of the hot swap bay since it's not needed and moved the reservoir to the top to see if there was room, turns out the 413.6x124x60mm radiator and the reservoir fit together just fine, as would a 399x124x86mm radiator, of course I haven't measured to see if the 86mm deep radiator would fit with the motherboard or not yet, but I'll do that soon enough, like when I fit the 1st 590 card, possibly on Saturday or maybe Monday, Just doing this made Me sweat like niagara falls the temp in here is a cool 75F(63% humidity since the swamp cooler is running). I'm not sure of what should go where in the bottom four 5.25" bays, a 650w Tt video card psu(690 and 580) and two optical drives, I think the psu should occupy the two spots just below the reservoir and the last two bays for the optical drives, which means I'll need to relocate one more part as the psu won't need more than one to hold the psu in the drive bay since the psu takes up two drive bays.

Ok I changed My mind, I did find out with a steel ruler, that between the motherboard and the radiator there is 1/2" of empty space(roughly 13mm), so an 86mm thick radiator is out as that would be a full 13mm overlap of the motherboard and I don't know if the overlap would hit other parts on the motherboard or not. I also took the time to install the 1st GTX590, which is an EVGA 1596 card.

Quite some interesting work there.

Reminds me of the description of Hotblack Desiato's super smooth all black ship! ;-)

Good luck for the cooling and firing it all up. Hope the memtest86+ and GPU tests fly through cool enough!

And thanks for the blog and pics. I've got grand designs on using a 4U 1m(!) deep rack mount for a super-cruncher for when its not busy doing image reconstructions...

Ok I found My 250GB WD Velociraptor(I'd gotten this under warranty by exchanging a 150GB raptor w/a broke sata connector for the 250, 100GB for the cost of shipping, sweet) and I've installed it in the case, I've also found 3 Koolance 120x25mm 108cfm fans for the 360 radiator, but until I can get some more parts(screws and an NZXT fan power card), those fans will stay on the shelf.

I installed a Gigabyte GN-W101GT 108G mini-pcie card and its 1x adapter card in the 4x pci-e slot today and I tried to see if a 38mm thick fan would fit up in the top, clearly the max is either 25mm or 30mm, My guess is 25mm since there is a ridge that sticks down from the top that separates the places where two 200x30mm fans would go. I also took the opportunity to remove a sata cable from the front and I'll later remove the 1394(firewire) cable too as their both in the way and I don't use them.

That looks awfully precarious perched on the edge of a ledge! Hope you don't get any tornadoes or any excited cats coming your way!

Also, as a radio ham, I can't help but be horrified by how close those wifi aerials are to the metal case! They should be somewhat further away from the metalwork for good performance. Likely the best you can do for those is to have them 45 deg away from the case and angled so that they are 90 deg from each other. That is, they form an off-axis "V" shape.

The case has been there for months and nothing has happened, when loaded up with everything the case will be on a steel shelf like My current PC is.

The antennas are right now just trying not to stand out as there is a cat who has chewed on antennas in the past, My current 108G card has only 1 antenna and It seems to work folded against the case, the one on the HAF-X only has two cause ones an auxiliary antenna and the other is the main anyenna and since I can't read the text without a magnifying glass(I don't remember where I put it), I can't tell which is which.

Oh and I figured out that I may only need two radiators for this build, a 360x120x60mm and a 420x140x80mm or a 360x120x80mm instead of the 420, on this build I can run three 120x38mm fans externally.

Now if only that Koolance GTX 480 water block will get here soon.

I'm not sure how 108G will use both antennas, ones an aux and the other is the main as I said earlier, but then until I get both PCs built, the wpn824v3 router will be nearby on another shelf, later when I have an active cable internet outlet behind the TV, then I can move the modem and the router to under the TV, which is about 20' away, instead of maybe 2' away.

Thanks for that. However, such detail is hopeless for pub quizzes!

And I'm dismayed by how few people realize their mobile phones are radio transceivers...

Radio waves and propagation, what's that?!... It's all Magic!?...

Depending upon the device, it may well use each aerial for one 'channel', so for 54Mbit/s you use one aerial, and both aerials get used to give 54 + 54 Mbit/s.

To minimize interference between them and so gain the strongest signals, they should be 90 degrees to each other.

And to keep your cats off them, add a large plastic (not metal!) container to cover over and protect the aerials?

I think I'm going to get a new case, yeah the Enthoo Primo from Phanteks(Google search for the Phanteks case), it seems to be the case with the most radiator expansion, it can hold a 480 in the top and a 280 down below, plus a 240 or maybe a 280 in front or a pair of thin 240's from what I've seen at this site Here, $250 in July, sounds good, at the link there is a video there at the 2nd link, they even made sure the psu was isolated from the rest of the case thermally, the case has 5-5.25" drive bays and a 6 channel fan controller(20 fans! 5 fans are included.), so yeah I'm definitely interested, this case has My attention. Oh and this case is supposed to be out for $250 in July of 2013...

So that's two cases, one for this PC and the New one...

That case can house TWO 480x120 radiators, that's simply fantastic, I left a message at this site Here, as I'd hope they'd do a review of this case. A more complete introduction is Here, that's almost a review in itself.

For the time being, I'd decided to put the wheels that I bought for this case on, I'd only been able to order ones without brakes from Europe, but I took one with a brake off of the HAF-932 and installed a new brakeless wheel on the 932, not an easy task as I was fighting gravity and I couldn't see where the screws went in, all while this PC was running, so both cases have one brake each. The HAF-X(942) is much easier to move with wheels, hopefully a review of that Primo case will have wheels for the case...

Teetering on the edge of an abyss, "wheels ... without brakes", and a furry four-pawed fiend feeding immediately alongside...

Meeeoooowwwwwwwww! ?

Hope also you don't suffer high winds or earthquakes!

Small hint: Tie-down straps keep things in place. And once you're already on the floor, it's hard to fall off.

(Unfortunately, dust and hairs and rubbish and everything else have an unholy affinity for the floor also...)
