Toot toot

I know vic, but there could be others that would like to go into more of the details like yourself. Just saying. Be more useful if all railroad stuff could be found in one place?

i.e. 4'-8 1/2" is Standard gauge not prototype gauge ....

In model railroad terms the real thing is known as the prototype...

Shopping, I love to do that, but that can't happen all the time around here. But I can window shop while online at least. :D

Thanks to Angela for running the parallel competition last time and to Eric for judging it. I (at least) really enjoyed the running tally! I will post a pic when the prize arrives!

Chris: don't blame Vic for talking about trains in this thread. I mentioned them the very first post. If he wants to talk about trains here, he's welcome to.

Vic: I never said it was a model, but I suppose I could say it's a model in 12"=1' scale. You have a point about Z, but anything smaller than HO is too difficult for my eyes and fingers.

Trains can be a secondary theme to this thread, but I've been leaning toward Monty Python for the main one. Preference is toward Meaning of Life and away from Life of Brian. I'm not offering cookies or even promising to pick a funniest post... but I might. Ping!

<<<< snip - I happen to like Z better, for space reasons really...

FTW with - I'm a long time Z fan too and for same reason.

For those who do not know their Z from what not, here's a some links with an explanation of model railroad scales and a picture or two for illustration:

Z scale is 1/220
N scale is 1/160
TT scale is 1/120
HO scale is 1/87
S scale is 1/64
O scale is 1/48
G scale is 1/22.5

Don't forget OO scale, 1:76 but running on the same track as HO

They left out O!

A Z scale train double heading across a bridge.

Nice, but still too small for me.

Z scale track and a human hand.

My point precisely.

I like O because of the detail.

Of course space is an issue. So is life in space, but that has nothing to do with toy trains.

Winning some and losing some ....
3 familiar names on Saturday's Obit page - 2 from church and one from my American Legion post. Two more funerals this coming week, and one TBD. On a positive note, had a good turnout for Bingo today, paid the bills and made a little money for the youth athletic teams we sponsor. I think I'll call that a small win.....

OBTW, my dad had an HO layout on a 4'x8' table hinged to the garage wall. Two loops including tunnels through mountains. Still have some of the rolling stock, but the layout went to my nephew about 10 years ago. Have to see if he's still using it...
