I've had to delete Seti@Home from my computer as it started using 100% of my CPU's (Quad Core) 100% of the time and things were really fouled up.

Anybody have any ideas?

That's normal. It'll also do that at low priority, meaning that whatever other program asks for CPU cycles, it will get, as Seti will then use less than 100% cycles.

If you mean, it does it while I use the computer and it never did that before, then your preferences changed to from "do work when computer is in use -> no" to ".. -> yes". You can change that back to no. Default is no. Default BOINC will only allow science applications to do work when the computer is idle (no one at the keyboard or moving the mouse).

If you mean, it's started to produce errors, then you better check what's causing that. Could be heat. And heat is usually produced by a clogged up CPU fan, where dust bunnies have grown into. Can easily be gotten rid of with a can of compressed air and an old toothbrush.

And you don't really have to remove Seti when things go awry, just exit BOINC (File->Exit BOINC->Check "Stop running applications when exiting Manager?"->OK). That'll already calm things down on the CPU cores.

What do you mean by really fouled up?
I've got Seti running on both of my systems, CPU & GPU both at 100% load all the time. Has no effect on any of the other things i use my computer for.

if you are trying to run other programs or play video games that are CPU or GPU intense you will will see some problems. IF that is the case just change your settings to only run when the sytem is idle
