Anybody else see Django Unchained?
Lori and I watched it Saturday night.
Quite a flick...2:45 of excellent entertainment, if you can get past the prolific use of the N word.
Which Tarantino defended by saying to the effect that it was not used any more than he supposed it was used in the time and places being depicted in the film.

I think it was Quentin's attempt, in between some shoot-em-up violence, some very intense drama, and some great humor, to display the true ugliness that was slavery and the general treatment of black people in southern America during that period.

The shoot-em-up stuff is pure Tarantino....and you either like his work or you don't. A couple of scenes, I could have sworn he was channeling Mel Brooks. Once of which had me laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my cheeks and had to hit the pause button before continuing. If you watch or have watched the flick, you will know what scene I am talking about.

In any case, the flick won 2 Oscars and the AFI Movie of the Year award.

The film also won a couple of Oscar's. The N word used was the sign of the times back then, and maybe so today. Shoot-em-up violence, Tarantino, style.

I think I have some connection with TT........
The whole bit just comes to bear now.

I expressed this bit for years now.......and was banned for it several times.

I am just glad the the use of the N word finally came out of the closet.

You always called me a bigot.

This movie is NOT about the N word. Simpletons.

It is about the abuse of the word.

I stand accused.

Not so.

I had the power.
I HAVE the power to make most anything happen.

I did have the power to scare some gurlz.

I took Lori. I chose her, she chose me.

Magik. Seventeen going on eighteen.

All BS aside.

I have told you all wonderful stories about my past life.
And a few tragic ones too.

It has truly been a wonderful adventure.
Not for the faint of heart, it has not been.
\

Starting a long time ago, I have known some wonderful women.
Ladies.......shall we say.

I have been dissed for revealing some adventures.
OK, she has never admitted our tryst/
Kissed and told...LOL.

I dunno just why I told you these things.

Just a little bit of kitty trivia, I guess.

Has anybody else seen the Sound of Music on freaking Blu Ray??????

OMG.

I think it should be loverly to address a life's achievement BEFORE they have passed.

Such is my love, Julie dear Andrews.

She has been such a love of mine through all so many years.

I think my dear Uncle Don treated us as kids to the theater when our parents could no quite afford it.

Wide eyed was I. The curtains parted and the screen lit up.
LOL, yes, not just Julie's face that lit up.

Since then, I just try so hard to remember my 'favorite things' whenever I get down/

Raindrops on roses, and kittles who snoozes.
One who looks at me with smiles and who droozles.
Kittie's own paws who want to cling to my wings.\
These are a few of my favorite things.

Yeah, I luv the Dixie Chicks.

Because their voices are just so beautiful.
And their political stance is just so correct.

You can sing THIS?

Most of us cannot. You get back to me if you have a version I can forward to CNN.

I believe this to be a rare studio version of the song.
I have bookmarked many other live versions.

I was somewhow priviledged a few years ago to hear them sing this in the studio.
You cannot believe what those gurlz can do. You just cannot.
Home of the brave. Not like those gurlz can sing it.

I loved them WAY before the political flap.
Their comeback 'Not Ready to make Nice' was a theme some of mine for a long time.
It took me years to get over that one.

And, once in a while, somebody kicks me just hard enough that I go back there.......
Time heals everything...I guess. I still bear a few scars. The song still makes me cry.

And yeah, I am often mad as hell.
And wonder what some think I should.............
F. I', not sure I could.

I don't know who says you can't post it, although I can't see what your reason is for doing so right now, especially twice in a row.

However, my personal opinion is that this recording sucks. Yes, they can sing (which is more than you can say for a lot of "singers" these days), although
what they usually sing is not what I generally want to listen to. But in this case, while they start off with some admirable harmony, at the red glare they lose the tune and just keep getting farther away from it as they go.

(Not that I'm claiming I can do any better, but I don't make my living by singing.)
