Message 1359305 - Posted: 21 Apr 2013, 10:48:18 UTC

I've contacted Toby a second time via a different email address, and got a response:

Well I did contact the domain owner earlier. Unfortunately the provider he is going through doesn't seem to have an automated way of doing things and he was unable to talk to anyone on the phone. So it looks like things might be down until Monday :(

Hark!

Somebody find the gate-keeper and offer him some gold pieces-- somebody forgot to pay the domain fee for kwsn.net

They have until May 27 before it gets released by tucows. I'm sure it can be sorted by then.

who.is says for kwsn.net:

Expires On April 16, 2014
Updated On April 18, 2013

My guess is that the domain expired, so DNS data was removed and the site can't be reached. But now it's been renewed, the DNS data will slowly migrate back (people usually say 'allow 24 hours'), and then the site will be findable again.

Edit - as a stopgap to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, try putting this in your hosts file:

63.247.72.178 lunatics.kwsn.net

In Win 7 Pro 64bit , where is the host file located ?

I started Notepad as Administrator, then opened the hosts file, edited it, then saved it O.K, I couldn't save the host file otherwise.

Sometimes that may be all it takes, when I tried it some time ago, I had to go in safe mode first to do that...

I also suggest closing any and all open copies of the file, reopening it, and making sure the line stuck in there...

It may revert on it's own, if windows sees it as an unauthorized edit.

One time Notepad renamed the file to hosts.txt when I saved, so check for that. Just does not like a blank extension.

I added the addr, just copy & paste from of the posts above, to my hosts file and was able to get to the site with no problems, going any where the general public is allowed. One note if you have administrator rights on your machine(s) it should be no problem getting to the hosts file. I was able to access the site just by opening a new tab and going there.

Floyd, you've included the comment marker "#" and the line will be ignored. Remove the # sign and try again.

From the Hosts file instructions:
