One reportedly escaped capture, and another was shot by police and taken to a local hospital. Another man was seen sprawled on the ground in footage shown on WHDH-TV.A second police officer was wounded in that shootout and is in critical condition. Perhaps that's who was on the ground in the above quote. No confirmation of a second arrest and current reports say he's still at large. I think people who do these kind of things don't have a message to convey. They're just f***d up in the head and sadly enough there are quite a few people like that. Demons they are... rOZZ Music Pictures |

OK... The linked news reports mentioned explosives thrown at pursuing police officers. They also were concerned about additional bombs similar to the ones used at the Marathon. Such devices are often triggered by cell phones. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

OK... FYI radio transmitters can cause some blasting caps to explode. Over abundance of caution. |

OK... Yeah, makes sense, their being protective, a bit less messy that way. Still no word on the capture of the 2nd suspect, even heard mention of possibly others, but that is only a possibility, now at least the guy that is wanted is known, better than before, too bad about that MIT cop, the cop ran into a buzzsaw in this case. This thread is meant to mourn the loss of those who died or support those who are injured. Please put any conjecturing of who did it or consideration of the ethnicity of those who did it should be put into another thread...probably in Politics. |

Again, I wish everyone who is injured a speedy recovery and a good life. I offer condolences to those who had loved ones perish. There is a thread in politics for other comments. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71445 Please use it. |

Should've checked my voice mail before coming here this morning. Names retracted at her request. "[Blurf], this is P sister M. P showed me your message board post last night. While we're not into that scene, we wanted to contact you and tell you how much all of the thoughts and support meant. Yes your brother and my sister are no longer married but there are times when family goes beyond the standard definitions. Please tell your tech friends we appreciate this more then they can ever know. Be well. M & D" |

More details directly from my former sis-in-law P...she's also on the Inside Cover of People Magazine. Thanks so much for your support, prayers and love I have felt from your direction over the last 8 days in Boston. I have never used my phone so much so I apologize if you called or texted me when I couldn't respond. I drove home yesterday though I still have 3 family members in the hospital: My adult niece G had her 3rd and hopefully last surgery Friday on her leg to repair nerve damage that has made her unable to feel or move her foot. The doctors are very optimistic but say that new nerve grows very slow so it can take 6 months to a year for her to regain the use and feeling of her right foot. My nephew P (the boy in the wheelchair in the circulated picture) has burns that cover most of his back but his biggest injury is his right ankle. He is having his 4th surgery tomorrow and they say it will take about 14 hours where they will be grafting skin taken from his thigh and using it to reconstruct his lower leg. The worst though is our newest family member - my nephew's 26 year old fiance. Her doctors are not sure they can save her leg. Thank God her five year old son was released from the hospital Saturday with most of his injuries on the mend. He is a great kid who will hopefully be able to heal from the emotional side of this event. Another niece and her husband suffered minor injuries and were released Monday night. |
