I notice a lot of Seti computers that have the same exact computer setup as me getting a Recent Average Credit (RAC) well over 20 times the RAC that I get. I have tried looking into the Lunitics optimized information, but it appears there is now nothing for Multi-beam Intel based, as it was taken down a year ago. I feel like I could be doing A LOT more, but need a little extra guidance. I do know a bit about computers, if that helps. My computer number is 6966744 or paste http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6966744. Any help would be great! Thanks.

I assume there's just one computer and you got a new host number when you upgraded to Win 7 a few weeks ago. Not sure why xxxx680 shows tasks in progress. Did you change locations for the data directory?

The low RAC seems to be because your gpu tasks on xxxx744 are not validating - They are going inconclusive and then invalid. Are you overclocking that 560TI? That model has had voltage issues in the past, might want to check what it is drawing. And how many hours a day do you crunch? You may be comparing to someone with longer hours.

Another Fred,

Very perceptive. I did change to Win7 a few weeks ago. Actually, I ditched the old hard drive for a SSD and the boot time is now under 8 seconds from 50 seconds. It is so much nicer. The data directory is still on the old hard drive which I was going to hook up to an extra computer I have.

In regards to the 560TI, it is a PNY 560TI and I have not overclocked it at all. How would I check what voltage it is drawing and what should it draw? Lastly, I run SETI 24/7 on this machine. I hope this information helps. Thanks a bunch for the response already!

Check manufacturer's site for specs and try MSI Afterburner http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/to get a reading and graph. It or EVGA's Precision are reported to work on other brand cards (most features). Or PNY may have something like that. Would normally recommend GPU-Z from TechPowerUp, but it just blue screened me for the first time ever when I tried to get the url. Probably my problem.

Other thoughts - watch temps on that gpu and check for dust build up periodicaly.

One more thought: looks like you installed the 314.22 video driver while you were still on XP Professional x86 Edition. I think that's a 32 bit os. Did you install the 64 bit version of 314.22 when you went to Win 7 64 bit? You are getting a lot of -9 results overflow (finding 30 spikes) in many of the stderr reports.

Yep that 560Ti certainly isn't working properly since the OS/hardware upgrade.

Cheers.

It turns out the video card is a PNY GTX 560TI O2 (for overclocked). I will be pulling the card, cleaning it, and trying to test the voltage, along with trying to find the PNY utility for stepping it down. I did use the 64 bit version of 314.22 straight from PNY. I will let you know if there is improvement.

One thing I noticed is that some of my valids have the same report of 30 spikes and -9 result_overflow. One example is valid work unit 2924695339 at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=2924695339. I would hate to see invalid work slipping by if that is the case. Please let me know what you think about this.

GPU-z is general video card tool.

I have picked up a more specialized version of GPU-z made for nVidia cards. Called NVIDIA Inspector: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/NVIDIA-Inspector.shtml

In the bottom right corner click Show Overclocking:

That will open up the adjustments panel. There you can underclock you card back to the original nVidia specifications:

That result was purged before I looked for it, but some of your inconclusives will validate and receive credit if they are "close enough" to the results reported by the wingmen. How close? I don't understand that definition well enough to explain it. However, if it is very far from the others, it seems unlikely that it would be the result that is selected as the canonical result that goes forward to the science database.

If it is factory overclocked, that should be okay. And, it seemed to be okay before the recent OS upgrade, which is why I asked about the driver. Any of the utilities mentioned will tell you what voltage it is pulling. I'm not suggesting adjusting voltage unless it's not up to spec. There are some people in this forum that know this issue better than I, so wait for their advice. Those utilities will also show a snapshot of temperatures. I prefer Tthrottle, which will monitor and control cpu and gpu temperatures. It is widely used here at SETI.
