I just recently this morning got a virus on my main cruncher after just downloading new wu`s. I had to put my old disc back on, however my backup is from 2 weeks ago and all of the new wu are now lost. ...and I have to dump the old ones from the old disc. I apologize to all of my wingmen, it hurts a lot. I wish there was a way to have my wu file on another disc because my D: drive is fine.

Did that old disk have a different host id?, because if it didn't and you reverted to an earlier point in time, you'll just get a new host id or abandon all your work because your number of contacts/<rpc_seqno> tags don't match up.

You can change host id's and get that work resent by following this FAQ (or partially follow it to update the number of contacts/<rpc_seqno> entry) (With the exception that you don't need to finish/abort any Wu's):

How to revert to an older HostID number?

But looking through your hosts it looks as if it's too late.

Great news,
I was able to skirt around the virus and then restore to a day ago..then ran Trend micro and it removed the threat...and I didn`t lose my WU`s.

It was on this one: 6683122

Looks like everything is back to normal. Running virus protection again on full scan.

Thanks for the info on that Claggy, I book marked that in case it happens again.

As i said, you can't just go and revert to a copy of Boinc with less contacts than the server knows about, it'll eithier give you a new host id, or abandon your work,
the trick is not to have network connectivity when you startup Boinc, reset the project to get rid of already reported work, Shut Boinc down,
edit the client_state.xml (with Notepad) and change the <rpc_seqno> number for Seti to one or two greater than what the Computer details page says,
restore Network connectivity, start Boinc and ask for work, the server should resend any lost work 20 Wu's at a time.

I **think** you should be able do this. The steps I would take are (Make a backup of ALL BOINC folders - given):
1) Set 'No network activity'.
2) Shutdown BOINC.
3) Create folder(s) on D: drive for the BOINC data to live. eg. D:\BOINCData\
4) Copy BOINC data folder from current location and paste it to new location. Hint, it's probably easier to keep the same folder names just change C: to D:
5) Reinstall BOINC and, under 'Advanced', point the data directory to the D: drive.

Restart the PC if it asks and watch the messages tab closely when BOINC starts running again. If all looks well enable network access. If it starts complaining about missing files or erroring Wu's just shut it down and restore the backup you made. Nothing lost. Try again if you want.

Others may chime in with other tips for this.

Thanks I appreciate the idea. I`m going to try it. I am by no means a boinc guru...but I do have some basic knowledge of files and how things work.,,, Thanks again
