Many thanks for the good wishes for all the many posts. But, time will help to heal.

I remember being here 2 years ago when we lost Corriander. Now all is OK in her direction.

It takes time.

I still miss my Tigger kitty. I lost her almost twelve years ago due to genetic CRF.
The first pet of my own that I ever lost.

But...I can now sigh and remember the nice things associated with her companionship and how loving she was to the very end.

Very true, Mark

What I remember about Corriander is the little tuft of hair rising from the white flower petal patch on her head as a question mark. Also, her voice which was always singing and leading the little tribe of dogs in song. That sound I will not hear for many years yet. But I will have fun with Lara, William, Bobby and Corrie before then, not to mention fatty Poppy Russell ...

It is so hard to see a beloved pet suffer and pass. Wishing you and Sheila peace.

It is so hard to see a beloved pet suffer and pass. Wishing you and Sheila peace.

The desired truth is that the suffering was minimal or non existent.

I know, that's the desired result.

I have one here who one day soon might be in the same position.
If I detect for ONE moment there is any suffering whatsoever, the answer for all of her kindness to me shall be one of the same to her.

I don't take the required responsibility of our companion animals lightly.

I may take it more seriously than some.

These are not just 'pets' to me, they are my life's companions.

Some, I think, consider my cats to be a tool of mine.
A simple thing I use to get companionship from others.

I have to tell ya, nothing could be further from the truth.

Those who really know me, know that to be fact.

When I say my cats are my life, it is factual.
Not merely kitty catual.

Many thanks again for yesterday's loss of our little Rosie - Ang, Michael, Mark and many others.

When I have our little tribes running around my feet now, I keep seeing Rosie then see the missing body. It will take a few days or weeks before I stop imagining her around ...

I think you shall never stop imagining her around.
And, that is a good thing.
It means that you have had the joy of having a little grrrranimal around that impacted your life in such a good way. Will be with you always.

One day not too long from now, I fear....
I shall have to part with my dear 18yo Squirrel kitty.
And while that pain may be almost unbearable for me, I may sit here on my couch and still see her sitting beside me, purring. Forever.

PIP to Rosie.
As you know John we had to let Oreo go year ago and I think they are having fun at the Rainbow Bridge. I dubed him my Hippy Dog as he could be so laid back unless HIS family unit was threatend. Nipped a few Ancles in his time.
Not sure if they had weapons or drugs, but I always agreed with him.
Best weeder of "Friend's my kids brought home" I ever had.
Tubbs, Ruta, Latte, Ziggy and Tessie are old. 10 to 15 plus. There will be spilled tears, but they will all go out with dignety(?) and we won't leave them alone.
Made arrangements with the Vet office to estabish a credit.
Ssd, but no more morbit then buying a plot for yourself.

That seems a very responsible thing to do Uli, sad, but sensible. I wish more pet owners were like you, and others here.

I am trying to prepare myself for some rougher times to come, but not dwelling on it.
Squirrel just turned 18, and Tigger II, Bandit, and Purrball will all share their 12th birthday this coming September.
All in all, they've been a rather robust lot, with a few problems here and there.
Squirrel has been on thyroid meds for several years now, Tigger II just went through a somewhat difficult to treat eye infection, little Bandit had some urinary tract problems a few years ago. Purrball has not needed a vet visit since she was a kitten.
But you all know how in tune I am with my kitties, and at the least sign of any problems, off they go to see the kitty doc. And as they get older, I'll have to keep an even closer eye on them.

As Uli said, there will be some tearful times. But our companions have given sooooooo much love and continue to, it's the least any of us can do to be responsible caretakers for them when the time does come.

That's the price we owe them, as they cannot make those decisions themselves.

Hats off to Uli.

Sheila and I have always had a tribe of dogs, and a few kitties, as well in our near 45 years of marriage. When the remission is finally over and I am called, I will be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by a large heard of critters, the numbers at this time I cannot even guess at (but closing on 30 to 35). That will be a superb day, and I will see Rosie again well as Corriander, Sophie, etc ...

Yes John, Mark, Ang and all others I will see you all on the Rainbow Bridge. Our critters may meet sooner than later, but it is all good.
