Hey everyone... was excited to get back with Seti@home, long ago did a bunch, and my new system is sooooo fast, thought I'd get back into it. I've processed some packets, but I find most of the time I get an error message saying BOINC has had some problem three times in three minutes, and the screen saver is always saying Boinc is not running. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and I'm about to give up on this. Any last thoughts before I toss in the towel on Seti@Home? kcuhC |

Hey everyone... Well, you've got 195 tasks on your system (in progress). Exactly what error are you seeing? Three times in 3 minutes seems excessive; BOINC will not contact the project more often than once every 5 minutes, unless you repeatedly hit the update button, in which case you'll get an error saying your update attempt is too soon (less than 5 minutes since last attempt). You could post some of your message log which would help us further analyze your problem, but at this point, I can't see anything obviously amiss. |

Hmm..I see that your system has not contacted the project since Friday. Are you sure your network connection is functioning properly? You might also try rebooting your system. |

Running Seti will stress the computer. If you also process work using your video card it will really stress the GPU. If your cooling & power supply & memory and video drivers aren't up to spec, you can expect lots of problems. EDIT- i notice you're running a GTX 660 & it looks like the stock Seti application. That will result in nothing but errors for the GPU results as there is an issue with the video driver/Kepler video cards/stock application. You need to set a system variable to stop those errors. Had the same problem this morning when I fired up one of my systems. Boinc client kept starting and stopping. Only the Boinc manager was running in "task manager". Was running version 7.0.56, so reinstalled it. Same thing, client would start then stop. Uninstalled 7.0.56 and reinstalled a second time, same result. Downloaded and installed version 7.0.62 and everything is back to normal. Looking at the "event log" after the 7.0.62 install I saw the following: 1 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM No config file found - using defaults 2 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Starting BOINC client version 7.0.62 for windows_x86_64 3 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 4 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 5 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 7 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Processor: 4 AuthenticAMD AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 830 Processor [Family 16 Model 4 Stepping 3] 8 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni cx16 popcnt syscall nx lm svm sse4a osvw ibs skinit wdt page1gb rdtscp 3dnowext 3dnow 9 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 10 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Memory: 8.00 GB physical, 16.00 GB virtual 11 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Disk: 465.66 GB total, 395.68 GB free 12 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Local time is UTC -5 hours 13 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 9500 GT (driver version 314.22, CUDA version 5.0, compute capability 1.1, 512MB, 430MB available, 134 GFLOPS peak) 14 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 9500 GT (driver version 314.22, device version OpenCL 1.0 CUDA, 512MB, 430MB available, 134 GFLOPS peak) 15 SETI@home 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 16 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM [error] Can't parse application version in state file 17 4/13/2013 8:31:21 AM Version change (0.0.0 -> 7.0.62) Evidently something got corrupted in the 7.0.56 reinstalls and installing 7.0.62 corrected the problem. |
