Ok, here's something strange. When starting using r1761 for MB, and the AP version, there's something fishy going on. If you start an AP WU first, and the app compiles the binaries, the clFFTplan_Pitcairn_32768_r1761.bin becomes 188 660 bytes. Starting MB WU's after that, is no problem whatsoever, they load the GPU just fine.

However, if you start with a clean slate again (no bin files) and start with an MB WU, the compiled file clFFTplan_Pitcairn_32768_r1761.bin becomes 201 968 bytes. MB WU's load the GPU just fine after that.

That's all and well maybe, but after having compiled the bin files by first starting an MB WU, AP units will not really start at all on the GPU. They just sit there taking a full CPU load.

So, the solution for me until someone can explain this, was of course to start with a clean slate (no bin files) start an AP and let it compile the bin files. Then both AP and MB will work good. The other way around, only MB will work and load the GPU.

Edit, added: MB compiled a whole load of bin files (apart from the bin_V6). AP only creates the clFFTplan_Pitcairn_32768_r1761.bin (apart from the bin_V6).

Edit 2: I noticed that the AP r1316 oclFFTplan_Pitcairn_32768_r1316.bin file I have in Beta is also 188 660 bytes. The reason it works there is that the MB file is not the same version there as the AP version, they're two different files. MB r1643 (clFFTplan_Pitcairn_32768_r1643.bin, but its size is even there 201 968 bytes.

Maybe AP needs another oclFFTplan_XXXX_32768_XXXXX.bin file, than MB. and because r1761 has the same name here on main for both AP and MB, it really screws up things.

Already fixed in later revisions, the MB and AP clFFTplan files are now pre-fixed with MB_ and AP_ respectively,
in the meantime run AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_ATI_r1761 and MB7_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_r1760

Thanks Claggy, I was actually just about to do that. Found MB r1760 on Lunatics, and will do the neccesary file changing and app_info editing.

Once again, I will delete all bin files :-)

There's a newer MB version out also. I used MB7_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r1764.exe a while back and it worked fine with my 6850. I did get the warnings with the VHARs, but, it didn't seem to bother anything. It's now in my project folder standing-by.

Thanks for telling me, I may try that one after I have fixed this little problem, and after the server relocation.

Oh, and Claggy. The message in the "Optimized Applications and Other Binaries - Read Only" thread that shows r1761 for both AP and MB, really should be edited so people doesn't do the same mistake i did:

I posted a notice in the sticky thread.

Of course anyone can also download the new app from my website.
But as i mentioned the difference is only cosmetically.

Great Mike!

I can say now, that running MB r1760, and AP r1761, works like a charm. Now both can compile their own bin files.
