Don't worry Es, we wouldn't let him in the country. The UK Border Agency might be pretty incompetent, but even they would refuse entry to known psychotics.

That part might be true But I seem to recall some terroists were let in.

We let a few out. The shoe bomber was from Brixton,he used to sell incense outside of Iceland.

He was that guy?

Looking down the barrel of a 12 gauge can not be a good thing. There is a reason why the Geneva conventions on arms have outlawed shotguns.

There is no such provision in the Geneva convention. Nor is there in the Hague convention.

<ed>Otherwise the Claymore would be illegal.

Or cannister shot. And the US military does use shotguns in combat.

I would ask you this. If you had to defend your home and family would you like an empty magazine or a full one? Id like a full one. Not a damn 5 round one not a damn 10 round one, I want a 30 round one with back ups just in case.

Even cops who are well trained miss the guy whos shooting at them. And not all hits are man stoppers.

Its not the law abiding you should fear its the crimimal or whackjob who could care less about laws, But the do gooders wont send to prison or mental health facillity.

Yes, not many realise that no matter how well trained a person is, it is no easy matter shooting at a moving target.

Also, when shooting at a stationary target, unless you have stopping power, you can still be taken down.

With the exception of those on this forum who have actually been trained, all the rest regarding weaponary is pure B/S as any weapon in the hands of the untrained is highly suspect!

You neglected to note that Mark appears to think he needs to hold off a platoon of invaders from his domicile. If that many people were coming I'd be heading in the other direction

Like I said criminals and whack jobs dont obey the laws. Seems the underground market can get anything a terroist needs in Europe. Even Grenades.

Yes, criminal, whack jobs and terrorists will always be able to get weapons. The point being missed here is that such items are much more expensive and harder to get through the Black Market rather than being able to buy them cheap at a Walmart "Black Friday" sale.

BTW. Has anyone ever heard of an attack by a "whack job" or terrorist(s) being foiled by an armed civilian ?

I have noticed in a few papers,

The United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to approve a pioneering treaty aimed at regulating the enormous global trade in conventional weapons, for the first time linking sales to the human rights records of the buyers. [...]

The treaty, which took seven years to negotiate, reflects growing international sentiment that the multibillion-dollar weapons trade needs to be held to a moral standard. The hope is that even nations reluctant to ratify the treaty will feel public pressure to abide by its provisions. The treaty calls for sales to be evaluated on whether the weapons will be used to break humanitarian law, foment genocide or war crimes, abet terrorism or organized crime or slaughter women and children.

The United States is one of the 154 members to support the treaty; it was opposed by Iran, North Korea and Syria.

Except of course in the USA it is opposed by the NRA, so it could mean that it does get endorsed.

Which leads me to ask the question, is the NRA and enemy of the USA?

From the late 60's to early 70's the NRA dropped its gun awareness and safety programs to focus more on stopping regulations and the importance of defending irresponibility and selfishness over common sense

Does that include Kim Jong Un and his Nukes? Just to take the point to the extreme.

Why should anyone's choice of weapons here effect my choice in any way shape or form?

Why would anyone think their choice should effect my choice?

I choose what is best for me any mine. I don't make a choice for you.

If someone broke into my home I'm going to double tap every damn one of them. They made a choice and forced me to make one of my own.

We need to arm all the teachers with semi-automatics and 30 round clips. That way, when folks on the right decide that teachers unions are illegal and immoral, those same teachers who have been entrusted with weapons will be able to respond...

Good for them!

However, I think they are outnumbered.

Society really does not want you to have claymore mines even it it would be your first choice as a defensive weapon.
