Hello guys

sorry for my english

I' trying Seti@home on OSX 10.8.3 (latest) on a MacMini (newest quad-core 2.3GHz i7 with 8GB/RAM and Intel HD4000)
BOINC works properly and screensaver too (obviously the GPU is not detected... thats ok)

When I select "Preferences" in the simply view: it suddenly closes/crashes with no advice.
Thats curious because if i'm into advanced view the Preference Pane works fine.
(The same version works fine on my old core2duo iMac, this one support the GPU too)

thats just for your info, thanks for the great work!!!

Please test with the latest BOINC Alpha if you can reproduce it. See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D for what's latest for the Macintosh.

please note it occurs only on the mac mini, where any CPU reference (ie: Snooze GPU) is not enabled (it is a mere Intel HD4000)
on iMac with the nVidia GPU no prob on both versions

ty for the reply

I forwarded your problem to the BOINC Developer for the Mac, he may pass by here at some stage. Keep a look out for Charlie Fenton.

Thanks for testing with the newest version.

thanks to you for the attention

I have a small new, I dont know if is important: on the iMac (where all worked fine) in the Preferences I used the CLEAR button and now I have the same problem (ie: preferences crashing only with simple view, advanced view still fine with preferences)

hope this can help the team, if I can help with logs, screenshots or whatever please let me know

thanks again

I forwarded that information as well. Tried to reproduce it with 7.0.59 on Win 7, but there everything works as is. So something local, in the air? ;-)

no, I can exclude Windows: I have 2 mac with two native partitions:
both mac works fine with Boinc under Win8 / 64 (bootcamp) in simply or advanced interface,
both mac (after the CLEAR button) on OSX crashes on preferences, only when simple panel is up
(nothing happens with advanced layout)

my humble suggestion to test the crash is:

1) launch the client with SIMPLY interface
2) select PREFERENCES
3) if dont crash and the PREFERENCE dialog appears select CLEAR;
4) retry from 2)
from now the OSX app crashes at every 3)

hope I was clear, my english sucks I know :)

thanks in asvance guys!

hey, I've (locally) solved!

i DELETED the global_prefs.XML file (not the override)
and now the Preference dialog is working again!!!

maybe mine was corrupted (on two macs sound strange but seems the case)?

yeaahhhhh :-)
beautiful!
