Not me?

Me neither, I think you have to be of a certain vintage to get it.

An old running gag that goes back to the prewar Popeye comic strip. It was prominent in the 1950s cartoons as well.

Angela is torturing us again...;)

Looks like it's straigth out of the Bisquik Incredible Pie recipe book. My parents were fans of the Ham & Spinach pie, although sometimes Dad would substitute SPAM or Farmer John's Breakfast sausage for ham. And always diced onions and extra cheese...

And i remember watching Popeye on Saturday mornings, and after school while folding newspapers for my paper route in the late 1960s.

I totally meant it in the wine sense, getting better with age and all that :)

Hey!!! This galloping gourmet DID NOT post the Bisquik Pie shot! That would be an entirely different form of torture. I posted the spanakopita shot. Mmmmmmmmmmmm phyllo encrusted yumminess!!!

Not exactly a pie, but it holds a filling and is triangle shaped, so close enough...

Ground Beef and Twice-Baked Potato Pie

Isn't that pretty close to being shepherd's pie?

When it's ground beef it's cottage pie. When it's minced left over roast lamb it's shepherds pie. Here in Oz anyway.

Looks like diced green onion, tomato, mushroom, BACON and cheese on top. I'd call that a Taco pie

That was a tasty article Michael. Not as tasty as pies though. :-)
