What we know as Dutch apple pie (without really caring whether there's anything actually Dutch about it) has a normal pie crust bottom and apple filling, then a crumble top. Your apple crumble doesn't appear to have a bottom.

mumble mumble Brits, think their way is the only right way, don't even know how to spell aluminum...

As I was saying...

How about a cow pie?

(Another post that might be better in the disgusting thread, but work-safe.)

Crumbles originated in Britain during the 2nd World War. As there was strict rationing the ingredients needed to create the bases of a normal pie weren’t available. Pie’s would require too much flour, sugar and fat to make the pastry. So people got creative and made a simple mixture of flour, margarine and sugar and used this to make the top of the crumble. The dish is also popular due to its simplicity.

And FYI - Some parts of America also have crumble however they call it CRISP.

Did you know that?

Funny, the thing shown as a crumble is what I would think of as a crumble. I would try to picture something different for a crisp and tend to think of it as a British term.

http://www.kaiseraluminum.com/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiser_Aluminum (And if you spell it with the extra i, it redirects to this page.)

You'd think a great big corporation like that would know how to spell its product, especially if that word is in its name.

Yup...I luv the brits and their rather unique sense of humor. Or should I say humour.

Monty Python, The Two Ronnies, the Pink Panther bits.
So many I can't bring them to mind right now.

This.
And The blackberry bit.
And of course, So cheeky...Monty.

OR, perhaps a younger Hugh Lorri doing [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNoS2BU6bbQ] This bit.....
