So, is 0.5 in the appinfo enough to make the app run two instances? No need at all for -instances_per_device ?

yes. But still supported and needed in conjuction with -cpu_lock or -gpu_lock options.

I still use both settings because of bug hunting.
If you dont use instances_per_device its not mentioned in stderr.txt how many instances are running.
