Notes, on a Page

A long, whole note,
sans vibrato --
a polar express,
through wintery night.

Another, softly wavering --
leading into an intense
affirmation of life,
loved.

Cascades of eighth notes,
their flags angling, long --
sprinkle a child's birthday cake
with familiar song.

Quarters and eighth's
with a dot by each side,
imprint joyous memories
of a carousel ride.

But, choruses of others
draw tears of regret --
of love that was lost,
but cannot forget.

Hillsides of scales,
thunderous chords, still, as time.
The notes awaiting, only,
a memory to define.

@ everyone --

We, in the Seti project, I feel, are especially into interpersonal relationships. "Them vs Us" philosophy cannot be very paramount in our
outlook on life.

"Aliens", is just a convenient term; even "Aliens" are "us", if we are to
accept them -- and, visa versa.

Any poem of real value, will focus on people, and not things -- and, there
are, as we know, -- many ways to describe interrelationships, good or not so good. I don't feel the "Aliens" will be found (eventually) to be much different, in their take on life.

Perhaps, we could consider our trials and tribulations as training for when
we meet ET. Not the ultimate reason, perhaps, but a good start.

Another Year of
Promises, Promises

Two thousand fifteen.
Lots of promises
to make.

*

On the other hand,

*

Seventy-eight years of broken promises.

*

The light-bulb lights.

I, hereby, resolve to make
no more promises.

*

What's the purpose of
New Year's resolutions?

*

I resolve to find out,
in
two thousand fifteen.

The original version, which I mailed out to friends & family, contained the
word "proken", instead of broken. Amazing, the number of responses one can
receive, with a misspelled/typo-d word. :oD

Enjoy your New Year, Julie -- the same for rest of you genuine folks!

These were two unrelated items. I thought they would look good together.

A Jar of Marbles

"Look at my jar of marbles!"
Susy was quite proud
to show her friends.

"I have a larger jar of marbles!",
exclaimed Sally.
"And, it has more marbles,
than yours!"

"If I get the largest jar
in the world,
then I'd have the most marbles!",
retorted Susy.

"No, you wouldn't!",
Sally replied.
"There aren't that many marbles,
in the world!"

"There have to be,
cried Susy!

There just have to be."

One can always lose his or her marbles in a poem or lyrics, that's what I love so much about words... Good one Jim.

New Commandments

You shall not write
of what you see,
if what you write
is blasphemy.

You shall not paint
a landscape, grim,
if what you paint
is mortal sin.

You shall not sing
a song of old,
if what you sing
is not foretold.

Your thoughts, reject.
Our thoughts, accept.
