People

There are people with joy and happiness,
people with tears and sadness.
But also people who do not
know how to care,
How to love or how to share.
People who don't know what they will see
after the sun has gone down,
Or people who will never know
how to see at all.
People who will chase their dreams,
Or people who will let their dreams be and live on.
There are a lot of people
in this world,
Alive, sick, dead or even unborn.
People who will fight for peace,
Or people who will fight for love.
Even people who will try to change you,
To change you and let you be who they want you to be.
Everybody is different,
One is maybe not as smart as the other,
Or not as pretty or lively.
The way people differ from each other,
Makes them the way they are: unique.

Sans SETI

If Murphy's Law could show, again,
that labor's pause
could yield
sought end --

Then, all should turn their gaze,
to sky --
with drink, in hand --
watch space-ships fly.

As news is broad-cast
o'er the world,,
we'll let the first
alert, unfurl.

As, once was sung, another day --
We SETIzens did it, our way.

"Multiverse Dreamscape"

where do we go when we sleep?
do we fly away?
lose contact with the pillow
is there something in dreams?
takes us away from this earth
leaves us somewhere in the middle
are we alone?
are there more of us?
living somewhere over yonder
perhaps we wander in dreams
through the universes
unknown to us in our wakened state

Yes, I really liked that one, too.

D.P.C. -- A place of repose, after one's wanderings. Great poem, Dan.

Nikki Giovanni

Copy and Paste from Wikipedia:

Renowned Poet , Distinguished Professor of English at Virginia Tech, author of 27 books,
a Grammy nominee and an Oprah Living Legend. Once dubbed the priestess of black poetry,
her work has spanned the themes of love and sex, anger and grief, race, politics.

I was born in the congo
I walked to the fertile crescent and built
the sphinx
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls

into the center giving divine perfect light
I am bad

I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with allah
I got hot and sent an ice age to europe
to cool my thirst
My oldest daughter is nefertiti
the tears from my birth pains
created the nile
I am a beautiful woman

I gazed on the forest and burned
out the sahara desert
with a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes
I crossed it in two hours
I am a gazelle so swift
so swift you can't catch me

For a birthday present when he was three
I gave my son hannibal an elephant
He gave me rome for mother's day
My strength flows ever on

My son noah built new/ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day
I turned myself into myself and was
jesus
men intone my loving name

All praises All praises
I am the one who would save

I sowed diamonds in my back yard
My bowels deliver uranium
the filings for my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels
On a trip north
I caught a cold and blew
My nose giving oil to the arab world
I am so hip even my errors are correct
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents

I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal I cannot be comprehended
except by my permission

I mean...I...can fly
like a bird in the sky...
