I have been running SETI@home for quite some time and sometimes look at the graphical presentation of what the computer is crunching away at. However I have no idea of what I am looking at.

Can someone please direct me to a website that explains (in simple terms) the following:

Searching for pulses/triplets, I think that's kind of explains it self but what are Gaussians. The only Gaussian I know is Gaussian blur in Photoshop. Then I see something else flash by but that's flash is so fast I can only guess what it says, it's something like "Computing fast ***** transform".

I guess the red band is a representation of the data being analyzed however sometimes it's just red, sometimes it's red with a white band running on top of it (looks to me like the white band is the average strength) and sometimes the red band changes color from white to red. Why are there different kinds of data representations, and what's the difference?
