crunched on my gpu 1 wu at a time for a few days to make sure no problems. added .4999 to my config to run 2 wu at a time. was wondering if i increased or decreased the cpu load for these from 0.04% would i get any incease in output? |

I doubt it. If you've got multiple video cards in a system then it'd probably be worth doing, but just for a single card- nope IMHO. Grant Darwin NT |

In short, No. Basically that small CPU percentage is only used when the CPU loads a task to the GPU and that's all it's used for (and if I remember rightly the stock app has this set to about 0.5%). Cheers. |

No. The <ncpus> or <cpu_usage> tags in app_info.xml and app_config.xml respectively don't control the behaviour of the science applications in any way: they are simply there to give a hint to BOINC about how the application is likely to behave, left to its own devices. The <count> and <gpu_usage> tags do affect things, but only indirectly - BOINC starts a different number of GPU apps at the same time, and the apps react to finding that they have less space available to work in. |
