Another round of thanks from this corner of the Internet.
There is something about watching my transfers going up to 900+ kbps that makes me smile more than usual.

... 900+ kBps...

Fixed that for ya. :^)

Mine also going, oh, about a hundred times the speed. I'd say the move was worth it!

Down the hill and rise the limit, that´s a good idea.

Good luck!

To misquote an old phrase:

Looks like Mohammad has moved a little closer to the mountain... (of all us crunchers that is ;-) )

Good luck for the revamp. May all the bits fly!

Just chiming in real quick to say:

... I took some pictures, but not down at the colocation facility, as pictures down there aren't allowed.

Hahaa. What is the propose of that, nothing there is classified! Someone must feel that this brings increased security from hacking. Have you ever heard of compilation of information, collecting tidbits to paint the whole picture? Still easy to find out what is in there, and the person who made that ruling will probably volunteer information if asked!!! Silly civilians!

One could probably probe the hardware to figure out what is in there to make it easier to hack in.

Glad to see everything starting to get back to normal. Hope the new server space is just what the project needs to grow.

Good luck with the move! Will you or others have physical access over weekends to kick kit if it becomes necessary like you have now? Oh and BTW, don't forget to take loads of pictures for posterity :-

Great to hear that everything is in a new location. I know the old location has been causing problems for years.

Congrats.

As was posted elsewhere, part of the deal with the new location is that there are techs on duty 24/7 to do simple restarts and such. The Seti guys will very seldom need to put their hands on their own euqipment.

Also, there will be no pictures because the new location doesn't allow them.

I took some pictures, but not down at the colocation facility, as pictures down there aren't allowed.

Wonder if a special request to have IST take a picture and photoshop out anything they don't want shown could be made?

Most co-location sites are very fussy about not having photos taken, even by their own staff so I doubt that they would allow any such photo - mores the pity as they are all very similar once you get through the fancy entrance hall and security goons. Just banks of 42U racks (or bigger), howling air con on the cool side unbearably hot on the hot side, with the howling air con, bundles of cable running into ducts, howling air con...

Did we mention howling air con? LOL.
I am 56 going on 57.......
And I am going a bit hard of hearing. I don't really want to know what a DB meter would register in the kitty crunching den. It might be a bit more than I wish to acknowledge. On the other hand, I have grown accustomed to the din, and it gets rather spooky in the few moments during a power outage and all goes silent.

Then, I am REALLY spooked.
