last week i noticed on the little icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen(boinic icon) that it has a little red thing on it,i press it and it comes up with " reconnecting to client" and my whole program appers to have been whipped clean, theres just nothing there anymore,no work,no transfers ,no disck usage (the pie grapgh says zero disc space in use. did something go haywire at berkelly or is it my machine? http://allprojectstats.com/s2397981b0a.png |

The red dot is indicating the manager can't talk to your core client. The manager is the GUI bit that shows the project, tasks and so on. The core client is the bit that schedules the tasks does the file transfers and so on. I would suggest you exit the manager and then reboot to see if they will talk to each other. If they don't then we would need to work out why they won't talk. BOINC blog |

If you open Task Manger & switch to the Processes tab you can check to see if boinc.exe is running. Normally boinc.exe (the actual client program) & boincmgr.exe (the GUI) will be running. If you do see boinc.exe running you can terminate it gracefully by using the command boinccmd --quit. Sometimes after an outage I am unable to remotely connect to BOINC on some a of my machines. So I will have to restart it. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Uninstall it, clean everything from the installation location, and reinstall again, You will only lose 5 wu’s. Tim |

I put some information in the parallel 'can't connect to core client' thread. To reiterate make sure your boinc program and data directories are excluded from AV. If you look at the task manager is boinc.exe running or not? If you check stdoutdae.txt in the data directory (it's usually a hidden directory, defaulting to C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ ) does it have any recent entries, or what is the last entry? A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |
