So, it's just one more example that proper forum target is required. And in this case it's not SETI Number Crunching but NV OpenCL forum. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

Its all very well after the issue has been solved to take that arrogant attitude but as it was I had no reason to suspect the driver as other lunatics Cuda apps were running fine. The point of these forums you seem to forget is to ask for help - which is all I was doing. So, it's just one more example that proper forum target is required. |

I think it might just be a language barrier kind of thing. I took it as meaning that the problem could not be solved completely here, but also required some input to the NV forum and their developers. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." After re-reading the posts you could be correct and if that is the case I owe Raistmer an apology for my previous message. [/quote] I don't think Raistmer was trying to be arrogant... Its all very well after the issue has been solved to take that arrogant attitude but as it was I had no reason to suspect the driver as other lunatics Cuda apps were running fine. The point of these forums you seem to forget is to ask for help - which is all I was doing. No probs with asking help, but proper targeting of such asking will give better results and faster. There are different levels of software abstraction from hardware. User app level is the lowest one (i.e., it's far from hardware). On this level software mostly tend to work or not work, regardless of underlying hardware. Driver obtain lesser level of abstraction, it works directly with hardware. App known to work on many different devices already. Then new device appears and app fails. It's worth to ask hardware manufacturer what is wrong cause compatibility is implied usually. And many posters here forget to do that. I'm not writing drivers, and NV or any other will not fix issue if they are not aware about it. And definitely they will not look over SETI forums finding for issues. So try to look from the other side and don't take this reminder personally but rather try to follow it. Maybe sounded too rough but I tried to explain why involvement in other forums required in post above. I just physically have no time to persuade all and each issue vs 3 supported for now manufacturers each with own forum and not too willing to give fast reaction support...
