I have 5 work units that have completed doing whatever it is they do. Two of them have been around for almost two hours. Do I send them in ? I thought Seti took them from my computer when they were finished.

completed work should be returned within 24 hours. BOINC does the returning not seti. Seti is the project you are running. BOINC is the program that runs the seti@home work.

Ready to report and uploading are two different things. Uploading is just moving data from your hard drive to a hard drive at the project. Reporting uses the database, and to keep overhead of the database use low, BOINC will try to report as many tasks as possible in one go, as reporting many at the same time takes as much overhead as reporting a single task. Thus reporting multiple ones is more efficient.

Reporting of tasks happens at:
1) 24 hours before deadline.
2) Connect Every X before deadline.
3) 24 hours after task completion.
4) Immediately if the upload completes later than either 1, 2, or 3 upon completion of the task.
5) On a trickle up message.
6) On a trickle down request.
7) On a server scheduled connection. Used, but I am not certain by which project.
8) On a request for new work.
9) When the user pushes the update button.
10) On a request from an account manager.
11) report immediately every task, if "No new Task" is set.
12) report immediately if CPU or network time-of-day override starts in the next 30 minutes. (BOINC 7.0)

I'm a newbie with the Boinc and Setiathoe. I have sveral task at 100% completion and still running on my PC. One has reported and the other is ready to report. I now have a new task running. When are the completed, reported task removed from my PC? Is removal automatic or do I need to take some action?

Thanks for your guidance.

Its an automatic process.
Depending on your settings it can take up to 24hours from uploading to reporting.

Not sure if I am on the right thread. My question is why do I end up with many jobs that are completed and their status is indicated as "completed & waiting for validation. They are shown as "pending" Have I earned the work unit credits for these projects?

The results that are shown as "Validation Pending" are waiting for the "wingman" to report results from an identical task. All tasks are crunched by at least 2 computers and the results must match before credits are calculated and the result is accepted for the Science database. You will get the credits when validation is complete unless the wingman disagrees and a 3rd computer agrees with them. In that case, your result is classified as invalid and no credit will be awarded.

So, just be patient.
