I have recently re-added Seti/BOINC to my computer after I had to do a reinstall.
Twice I've had an Astro Pulse assigned to my list but I never see it running. I have other downloads of SETI@Home running and completing and they are uploaded but I've yet to see an Astro Pulse run at all. It is like the other Seti work runs and is replaced by other Seti work and the Astro pulse simply runs out of time & cannot meet the deadline, having never had the opportunity to run in the first place.

What gives ?

But you have a task running since March 7. I am running an Astropulse unit on my Linux box, no GPU, using an application by Lunatics and it runs OK. Maybe you should download a Lunatics app for your GPU, if it exists. I am no GPU user.

Can you see the task that's assigned to you? If so, what is the status (waiting to run, downloading, etc.)? Check the first 30 BOINC startup messages to see if there is mention of a problem with the application files.

The AP task is assigned to your GPU. So depending on the value you have set for
"Suspend GPU work while computer is in use?" &
"'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last"
in your Computing preferences it may only run when your computer is idle for a given length of time.

You can change "Suspend GPU work while computer is in use" to No and GPU tasks will run whenever you are using your computer. Depending on your GPU it could make using your computer difficult. Adjusting "'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last" to a low value, like 5-10 minutes, may be preferable.

If you do activities, such as watching movies, where the machine is "idle" but you are actually using it. Then you may need to add the application being used to the BOINC exclusive_gpu_app list. That way the GPU isn't used for processing while it is busy play a movie.

So far I have had no luck getting any AP to run. I know it did on my previous install of Win 7, 64 bit. The Lunatics app is out since I am using "WindoZe"!

I am at the conclusion that the AP will not run on my machine and thus I simply need to delete all instances of an AP from my tasks from now on and only concentrate on things that will run.

your host has exactly 1 AP task in progress. What problems you met with this task? It's not errored out so far.

I have accidentally made the thing actually run. What I did was to have the GPU run no matter what. This is not what I intended to do but as long as it is running and doing no harm I don't see that there is a problem anymore.

I did download a GPU temperature utility, which happens to be in centigrade, and can seen that my little Radeon HD 5450 is chugging along at about 55 C with the AP running and about 48 C under a normal light load.

I don't play heavy duty games and such with my computer(s) but I do have under the hood on older i7 870 processor. The most intensive thing I run is Photoshop CS2 when processing large .CR2 RAW files.

At any rate with CPU temperatures in mind am I running, with AP running, somewhere in the range of normal GPU temperatures ? I just don't care to accidentally burn this computer up since I am a 70 year old senior citizen who now lives on a very meager budget.

The card temperature is hard to judge because we don't know how you manage its temperature (passive heat sink, heat sink with fan, how fast the fan is running).

I recently upped the fan speed on my video card to 50% speed, so now my video card temperature is about 60 ± 2°C. Previously I was doing 40% speed and I had 75-80°C temperatures.

I think general rule of thumb is to keep video card temperature below 90°C. You have it, so I would not worry about it.

As far as I know, there is only one Windows version for both 32/64 bit. The CPU App would pose less danger to your machine than the GPU version. You can control the level of CPU usage very easily via Tools/Computing Preferences/processor usage. You would have to add files to your Hidden /ProgramData/BOINC Folder. If you're not comfortable adding files to hidden folders, you might not want to try it. There are many threads about manually configuring the program if you want to read up on it, it's the same with GPU Apps or CPU Apps. The App_Info file for that CPU App, in Win 64bit, would be;
