Tread carefully Sirius, religion and politics don't mix. The Mail ought to know better as well. Probably true that religion and politics don't mix, but they do keep getting mixed up. Heads of most religions cannot out of politics and politicians either embrace religion wholeheartedly of reject it. And the press keeps turning the handle, seems like the Guardian has stepped in already. Pope Francis: questions remain over his role during Argentina's dictatorship Jorge Bergoglio was head of the Jesuit order in the 1970s when the church backed military government and called for patriotism

the name Francis appears to be a nod to the other order of preists There are two theories as to which "St. Francis" decide to choose, most obvious to the man is the street is St Francis of Assisi, but there is another, one of the "founders" of the Jesuits was St. Francis Xavier. Both held very similar views about helping the poor, looking after the needy, living lives of simplicity and so on. Indeed when you look at the life style of Pope Francis you can see immediate parallels to both. I would really like to know which he chose, or perhaps its a combination of the two? ____________ Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe?
