Are requests sent automatically? If not, how is this done? Thank you in advance.

yes. Once you are setup and running, which you appear to be, BOINC will handle all the uploading and downloading of work. Occasionally, you'll get a few Workunits that won't download or download slowly. This is normal for now. We are using all the S@H bandwidth available to up and download work. With so many doing this you may have log jams of work.

IF all is performing correctly you work should be returned within 24 hours of completion and if and when it matches another crunchers result you will earn credits showing that you have completed work. The Credit amount is determined by the amount of work done.
