How would you find out if they found something interesting in one of your work units?

Only after a long time - your results are compared to those from the same part of the sky, but on a different date, and if several observations show "something of interest" they added to the list of possibles, but since the "Nitpicker" is currently not working properly this process is "somewhat protracted"...

Oh, by the way, this sort of thing is discussed somewhat more fully in the "Science - SETI" thread, where I'll move your post to in a few minutes. The Cafe is where we come to relax and "play games", and some folks get quite tetchy about work being discussed here!

There are two nitpickers??? WHY a private one, I am a little bemused? ____________

There are two nitpickers??? I don't know why but Jeff and Matt have mentioned this a couple of times before plus Matt has also said before that the public 1 has been doing a bit of work but it generally doesn't show up on the server page for some reason. Cheers.

Perhaps the forthcoming server re-location might fix that ...

There are two nitpickers??? Not sure, but development and computational load are two good reasons. ____________

You will get notified by Seti@home that your computer helped identified ET and fifteen minutes later the CIA will knock on your door, have you sign a non-disclosure agreement and confiscate your computer.

You will get notified by Seti@home that your computer helped identified ET and fifteen minutes later the CIA will knock on your door, have you sign a non-disclosure agreement and confiscate your computer. True!! I've been watching a show called "Are We Alone". The show does mention Seti@Home. All 8 million users are allotted a certain part of the sky. Seti@Home, sits in a small computer room. They did mention if they got a signal the world would know in minutes. How many security levels would be notified first? Guessing plenty. Yes! CIA, would be at my door. Lynn

Once the former Rabbi of Rome, dr.Elio Toaff, was ordered by a German officer to dig his own grave. He started reciting the Kaddish, and the German was so shocked by a man who could pray in the face of death that he let him live. I heard this tale on a radio broadcast by Toaff.

Not all German officers in Hitler's day were sociopaths but those who were not were in the minority.

I agree. My father was an Alpine Corps officer who fought in Russia and then refused to join the Fascist army. He was hunted by the Fascists and saved by a German Wermacht officer who gave him a pass. My father had studied in Austrian schools in Trieste and spoke perfect Deutsch. Of course, had he been checked by a a partisan, he would have been shot. Life was not easy in 1943-45 in Italy.
