This afternoon, I saw a typical pedestrian standing at a corner, waiting for traffic to clear, turning her head back and forth to look. After I went by her, she trotted across the road on her four hooved legs. No road-kill venison in Riverside, Illinois tonight. OMG - all the dumb deer have been killed off in Illinois and the remaining smart deer are surviving to reproduce themselves... Northern Wisconsin is doomed!!! |

Back in about '77 or so, they must have sent some scout deer up nort. I nailed 2 of them with my '72 Buick Gran Sport within 3 weeks. The second one not more than 2 days after I got it back from the body shop. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Hmmm...first they're killing off deer and then they let them reproduce themselves again. Where's the logic? rOZZ Music Pictures |

With urbanization, deer and similar animals have few natural predators to control population, so man has to fill that ecological niche. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

It's called culling. We have it in Richmond Park every year which causes an outcry in the local press. The press in the Richmond area forget that the deer were protected there to provide "sport" for the King and his guests. In the "good old days" a peasant got a reward for killing a predator, but got executed for killing a deer with the bounds of the park. Then it wouldn't be ethical... rOZZ Music Pictures |

Some human populations practice birth-control to keep themselves at or slightly below the sustainment level. For others, Mother Nature appears to use war and famine to achieve that goal...... Whoever has been running that sort of stuff over the last 10,000 years or so; they have been making a poor job of it. |

Well the fact is that the human population is growing at a faster rate than the planet can sustain. But not the raccoon population, regardless of the Kopela Foundation. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Oh I don't know. The Bay Area Wildlife Park Inc seems to be doing a fair job under its CEO A. Korpela. I want to see statistics....... The general RC population over the last few years since the Korpela Foundation began it's wonderful work. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Well the fact is that the human population is growing at a faster rate than the planet can sustain. CA is supposed to grow to a population of 50 Million from about 40 million in the present day and the US is supposed to increase by 150 million people from about 315 million.
