In the SF Bay Area we have pockets of wilderness surrounded by densely populated areas. Some of the larger wild areas still have a few big cats and once a decade or so, a Mountain Lion eats a jogger or a bicyclist. I suppose that to a kitty cat, the fast moving people look like deer. The solution, I believe, is not to exercise. In fact, I am already following my own advice right now by parking my ample behind here in front of this screen. Yep... in this setting I don't look like a deer at all!!! I feel very, very safe.

Here's a couple cougars with a couple of ladies...

Both must have been hand raised and trained, since no one has yet bred these cats for tameness.

So.......
Which one is the cougar?
LOL.

I consider this nature balancing itself. There were far too many joggers!

Ah yes, those hogs will eat anything, since just like humans, their omnivores. Good thing animal control picked it up...

Think that's interesting? Take a look at what this homeowner had staring Him right in the face, not 1 Mountain Lion, but 3...

Visitors: A pack of mountain lions were on the prowl in the snow covered yard of the home belonging to John Vomastic
Anyone home? Man has a terrifying face-to-face encounter with a mountain lion peering into his house in Rocky Mountains

What to do if you encounter a lion

1. Do not turn your back
2. Do not run
3. Appear larger. Raise arms, objects, or jackets above your head
4. If you have a coat, open it up
5. Slowly back away. If you are with others, form a group, you'll be less interesting as potential prey
6. Smile! Show your teeth
7. Make loud, menacing sounds, like yelling and growling
8. Probability of risk is serious if within 200 yards

Face to face: John Vomastic was inside his Colorado home and captured this photograph of one of the mountain lions peering in

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric and I had routine physicals last Friday and our physician advised Eric to take 15 minutes out of his lunch time and walk vigorously around Tilden Park three days a week. (Tilden Park is right next to the Space Sciences Lab.) Eric responded that he didn't want to do that because a Mountain Lion had been spotted in the area. Our doctor looked at Eric like that was the stupidest excuse he had EVER heard for not exercising!

LOL - Sounds like a reasonable excuse to me ;)

You are clearly overfeeding him Angela :p

My 2 cats have the same problem if I get too generous with the food.

I'd rather see him jog about with a big fat steak to throw in the opposite direction......LOL.
No, he does not get to eat the steak after a successful jog.
