If you have one it is of use, but will be power hungry compared to more modern cards - we are now entering the era of what would have been the 7xx series, but Nvidia have invented some new names for them. (As a rough guide my GTX460 uses far less power, and does more work than the '260 it replaced, and it is probably going to be replaced by a "new name" card in the not too distant future as it is starting to show signs of getting less reliable) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I have to agree with you, most of the new cards are being renamed or remodeled and then sent out as almost the same thing. The only thing I can see so far is the newer cards are starting to incorporate the Tesla technology that was cutting edge about 3-5 years ago. In my own opinion, find a system that has a huge power source that is 85+ Certified, then about another 200 watts and then add 1 Bad Ass GPU card to it and let it go to town. Power is everything, what they post for power required is a total lie. But this is just me, I have never bought a system that has the power or watts, as advertised. I have built 2 systems so far and only the big name brands stand up as advertised and the cards always draw more power than advertised. Hope this helps. Have a good evening. |

I can only answer for the gtx460 - mine is giving about 13,000 per day, running 24/7. Obviously your mileage may vary as there are a number of imponderables to consider... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
