Hey,

I seen something on TV about seti@home and the astropulse thing, I installed Boinc on my PC and joined seti@home and seti@homeAstropulse, But when the screen saver comes up it says no tasks is running and Boinc says its downloading work but its been like that for a long time now, almost a hour. Oh on Boinc it only shows that Seti@home is on it but the astropulse is not on there, I have no clue what im doing so any help would be great

thanks

Astropulse is just a form of looking for the aliens. Whereas the SetiEnhanced Mulitbeam tasks can be compared to listening to AM or FM radio, the Astropulse tasks can be compared to listening over broadband internet, streamed MP3.

You can learn more about the two by reading http://seticlassic.ssl.berkeley.edu/about_seti/about_seti_at_home_1.html and http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ap_faq.php.

That things are coming in so slow around here, is because Seti only has a 100Mbit connection, which is saturated most days of the week due to the sheer amount of computers asking for work, getting work and uploading/reporting results. It happens to everyone all over the globe.

What you can do about it? Not much. You can read through Windows TCP Settings - Follow up - Help with server communication to see if any of that is not too technical and of help to you. But otherwise, just wait it out. Eventually you'll find a fast slot and work will flow in faster.
