Message 1348059 - Posted: 18 Mar 2013, 13:17:30 UTC - in response to Message 1348053.

In at least one other lab I'm aware of, there are several circuits with their hot wires running through a chase so the computers aren't all on the same one... but I think (not sure) all the circuits share a single neutral wire. Sometimes I'm surprised the place hasn't burned down already.

I'm sure you are aware that there are two hot wires available in antiphase, so that the load on one cancels the load on the other as far as the neutral is concerned. That's why the neutral only has to be the same gauge as each of the hot wires. More serious is extending the hot from the other phase across the room so that there is a 240v hazard (hot to hot) where there shouldn't be (I used to know the rules on that but haven't kept up with the code for the last 20 years or so).

I haven't delved too deeply into what's going on there, but as far as I can tell, all this is happening between the breaker box and the outlets, at the 120V level. I doubt if any kid of phase balancing is going on this far down the chain.

Message 1348070 - Posted: 18 Mar 2013, 13:57:27 UTC - in response to Message 1348036.

Morning win, more or less.

Work won't be too bad this week, and then I have a week off.

The question is, should I clean the cat boxes this morning? That's never winning, but neither is poop on the rug when I let them go too long.

I clean out the bin for My cats litter box twice a week, Graces box stays much cleaner and since the litter I use is corn based, I just flush the used litter and such down the drain, this can not and should not be done with clay or wood based litters, one gets sticky in water and wood just floats. Of course the rake on the litterbox has 8oz of stick on tire weights added to the rakes back side, which is just peel and stick on a clean surface and then set and forget, no lubricants or sprays needed, Mine has been modified like this for almost 3 years, no one at Littermaid said I should not do this either as I've mentioned this on their own website. My Littermaid Mega Elite works great and it's about to do another run now, Grace never goes on the carpet...

Maybe somebody is using the Julian Calendar? or the Hebrew one? Or is still trying to find a supplier of Maya Calendars?

Herman as in Herman Munster, would never do that, but then He has a face good enough to stop a clock... And is madly in love with His wife Lily...

Winning sitting down after over an hour and a half on my feet doing inventory in the most difficult aisle of the library to do that in. My arms are aching. So is my back.

After lunch (all three periods of it) I'll tackle the other side of the aisle, which is almost as hard to do. And that'll be my day.

Winning on a sunny morning, after a long and busy weekend.
Friday and Saturday at the FRA West Coast Region Mid-Year meeting in Vallejo. Sunday 4 hours on the road, then run Bingo. Got home to find my neighbor's dogs in my yard again. Got them back home and fixed the fence - will have a few choice words with their owner later today. A light dinner and a good night's sleep in my own bed. Winning!

A lot of that happens. Sometimes it's even our own fault, but mostly it's kids either not caring where they put the books, hiding them for some reason, or occasionally hiding an overdue book on the shelf so they can later claim they returned it on time.

All morning, barcode reader <beep>, computer <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <chirp>, uh oh, something's out of order, take a minute to fix it and straighten out my back. Now where did I leave off? <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <silence>, now what? "Alexandria Librarian has lost the connection to the data station." Wait a couple minutes for it to come back, then repeat the last book. Which one was that again? <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <doof>. Okay, is that a misread or a book that got deleted for some reason? At least a few extra seconds to investigate, hit Enter to clear the message, try again. Where was I? <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>, <beep> <boop>....... And if there's a problem with the book, such as it was deleted, pull it to fix later.
