Yes, it's this weekend already. Most of the country moves its clocks up an hour at 0200 Sunday. And electronic devices older than a few years don't know it and won't automatically change for another three weeks.

Now it will take me a couple of months to remember to subtract 5 instead of 6 from the UTC time on this site.

Of course I am in that part of the country that does not have to worry about this problem.

My inner clock keeps attention to 5 timezones. And they ALL change on different days! Ah no, the UK at least is on the same date as the rest of Europe. How come?

Ok, so the US change on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November.
Europe changes on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October
Down under is first Sunday in October to first Sunday in April
And the last is second Sunday in September to last Sunday in April.

ok, that's me confused till May - anyone got a good world clock?

You and Indiana always confuse me. They do even more now that they've changed to be less confusing.

I am able to calculate any US time from my own, including Alaska and Hawaii. (Wait, Hawaii doesn't do Daylight either, does it?) I have also learned to calculate UTC (with, as I said, trouble remembering how much to add/subtract for a couple of months after the change) and Japan. Japan gives me less trouble than UTC because I always have to stop and think about it anyway. (I have a friend living there.) It's easy, though: add 3 hours (Standard) or 2 hours (Daylight) to my time, then toggle the am/pm.

That was an oversight. I am sure it gives our politicians sleepless nights.

It has to do with Farmers, which today can involve Big AG...

UK clocks go forward 31st march. For most of the year, London-New York is 5 hours, New York San Fran is 3 hours. Its roughly 1 hour per thousand miles, as the circumference of the earth is 24,000 miles, and it rotates once a day.

Reminder: the latest change in dates for the time change occurred around 2005-2007, due to the Bush administration, in hopes that more days with more daylight hours where people are awake would pump up the economy. We see that failed miserably.

Consume, baby, consume!
Same advice we got right after 9/11.

Sorry, but Fadder time says He's holding that Hour until the Fall... Only an Act of the Legislature would change that...

The ultimate waste of time and money is DST in Alaska.

We are either up to our butts in daylight or you are not able to find your hind end with both hands and a flashlight - that would be a torch for our english cousins.

We have DST in the UK basically to stop schoolkids having to go to school in the dark in the mornings, or home in the afternoon in the dark. This is to reduce the accident rate. When they tried to change that last year with the Daylight Savings Bill, it got filibustered in parliament by the Scots, who claimed it would endanger Kids lives.

Any way if we didn't have electricity, we would all be watching television by candlelight :-)

Who told you that. Surely you have observed that electronics stop working when the smoke is released, therefore electronics must work on smoke;-)
